Power Reserve movement......

OK, I wonder this for a while.

I know the rep makers modded the Asian 21J movement to have power reserve function. That is pretty much we have on the market now.

The question is, if anyone can enlighten me, if there is any other movement which carries this function, as well?
I mean a better movement with functional power reserve.

My PAM090 which I bought from one of our dealers has quit working about a month ago. I took it to a local watchsmith to see if it could be fixed, but disappointed. He told me he could not even figure out how this movement can be done. I don't know why he said that, but he couldn't fix it, anyway.

So, I am thinking to buy another functional power reserve PAM with better movement so it could run last longer. Any input will be welcomed.

Thanks, guy!

PAM 027/028/057 with ETA 2892-A2 movement...were available from our dealers some time ago...seems that they are out of production and maybe...maybe some of the dealers have 1 left...it is difficult-impossible to source them new...and when they come to the 2nd hand market they disappear pretty fast...

this are great reps...the movement is one of the best ever seen in reps...

good luck in your find...

I'd just echo the previous poster's thoughts... The 2892 with sopras module is really a must have. Don't settle for less. The trouble is finding one these days. Oh where have all the good times gone....

My ETA 2892-A2 028A.

True PVD + superlume + improved crown + improved cyclops + improved datewheel + CG lever fix.
Oh, and strap stitching tone matching with the dial markers too. :D

I am quite proud on how the date looks as I think it is almost 100% with the gen.
It has been a long way, as the ETA 2892-A2 has a small second lens, added right over the date window, that made the watchmen cyclops overpowered. This cyclops is one-of-a-kind, specifically made for this watch after several trials.

On the contrary, I am still unstatisfied with the crown. It is 9 months now that I am waiting for a custom PVD crown. :( So, as a temporary arrangement, I had to modify a Davidsen's crown and make it fit into the original tube.

I don't know if it's true for Panerai Rep, but Power Reserve Asia movement are Seiko modified.. I have one running for a bit more than one year.. Quite nice movement for the price.

There is also some New Seagull/Venus/Lemania Manual movement with Power Reserve.

Yea i'm looking to rock a Patek with this movement.
I'd post a picture but, it wouldn't be mine and, I don't want a picture thief tag.

I cringe everytime I see sssurfer post his 028. It's just so damn good looking that jealousy takes over. Finally got in touch with Finepics about the datewheel, and will messege you about the cyclops once i located someone willing to do it.

That is great news, red, congrats!

Take in account that I might need some days to make the cyclops -- but I suppose you are not in a rush, are you?

SSsurfer worked on my 028 and it looks amazing in person. Like SSSurfer mentioned after the mod you are only a crown away from being identical to the gen.
The movement is the same one used in the gen. PAM uses the 2892-2 with a Sodpro. The movement and sodpro alone go for more then what the dealer charged for the watch a year ago. The dial is also one of the best.
Even the T-Swiss_T is off by a few nanometers, and the hobnail is so close to gen. This is by far my favorite PAM, and a rep that I worked very hard on modding. And I recommend anyone who is a perfectionist to make this their next project. Thanks again Marco.

The movement in the current 090's is a Seagull 25-30, with a PR module attached which, according to seagull has a total of 35 jewels!!...I own 2, An SS model, and a PVD one, and both perform superbly!...The date font is probably wrong, but I don't care, since the dates are very difficult to see clearly, since there are 2 cylops on these..one on the crystal inside, and one affixed directly on the movement....And with the date setting dimple on the case side at the 8:00 position, you are't going to fool anybody with any knowledge anyhow!!
Just wear it and enjoy it....

How does the date setting dimple work? I have a 090 on the way and I was not aware of the dimple. heh. Also, is it a possible water-resistance weakpoint, or is it sealed pretty well?

Just push the dimple once for each day's advance...As far as water resistance, I have no Idea!!..I don't even WEAR my reps on rainy days!!.....The dimple mechanism is simply a spring loaded push pin that appears to have a "O" ring behind it, but I wouldn't trust it!!...My basic assumption about ALL reps is that they are NOT water tight...Going this way, I have never gotten one wet!!...That's why K-Mart sells $20.00 Casios!!...
