Hi there!

My new IWC Portofino just arrived. Besides the fact that it's stunning I would like to change the movement into a genuine ETA 2892.
I contacted Wiz and he didn't do it before on this watch, so he wasn't sure. He had concerns about the hands. Anyone have some experience with this?

And should I buy a normal 2892? I found one with the diameter of 28mm, should it fit?

Hopefully someone can help me!

My best regards,
Albranius

The gen ETA will fit the case perfectly, its the hands that can be the problem. Asian movements seems to have smaller pins for the hands in my experience. But the hands can be modded but its hard without scratching them.

That's not a bad movement. I wouldn't do anything at least until you have problems. I have heard of very few issues with it.

I can buy the following movement for 130 euro (or 169USD). First is the movement okay to fit the Asian 2892, and second, what about the price? Seems to me a fair price?

In the case when I have modded the hands (mostly from A7750 to ETA7750) I used following tools and a thin plastic film to protect the upside of the hand when clamp it in the 2676-B tool:

It works good if you are care full and only take little material away (It's about 0,05 mm on the 7750 movement.) I don't know how much it is on the 2892 but it can be measured by the second pin with a caliper.

But the original ETA 2892 measures 28mm and the 2892-2 and A2 25.6mm. So the original 2892 isn't the right one for the job? Or can it be placed in the watch?
