So I'm cruising canal street NY today like i am known to do from time to time, and i chance upon a Porsche Design watch i have never seen before. Needless to say, i bought it, brought it home and started looking it up online. its the "P.6750 world timer" and apparently was first shown in 2008 or so. i am surprised its only been barely repped ad i would think this would be something that would generate some serious interest.

It has some flaws from the Gen of course, but it has some serious potential.

1 its not as thick as the gen, i thing because the rehaut is not deep enough.
2 The indicators for the timezones should be grey with black text, instead they are white with black text. (i may eventually open this up and sharpie the discs.)
3 No AR, but I'm not sure the Gen has any either.
4 The Gen has a kick ass movement that the guys in the far east will not be able to replicate (See YouTube video) but the GMT display moves with the hour hand.

Where on Canal Street did you find something that wasn't made of plastic and aluminum?

You have to look long and hard. There are a couple of people who have some good items, but sometimes you have to ask and hope they open up the "other" drawer.

...

It's been a while since I've seen a rep worth 1/10th of the asking price from any "front" in the city, let alone one actually on Canal St anymore. (Grand, maybe...) More often than not, if there's a halfway decent rep to be found at all, someone's attempting to pass it off as a gen.

Got a more specific location you want to share? :D

Typically i will hit all the small sellers from the bank of America heading east till the street after the corner that has the uptown 6 train. unfortunately i am never looking at the actual cross streets, but i can tell you I'm always on the north side of the street.

As usual with all things tourist oriented when you do find something on par with what our dealers sell they will tell you its "swiss case AAA". but things like the entry level Chopard MM with all the flaws that dealers sell for $99 or so you can find for about $65. I usually buy real entry level beaters and such and my "real" reps from our dealers here.

Along with this watch i bought a 5004 with working power reserve and the white DW for $160. good AR and the rest, so...

not like the Gen, it just follows the hour hand after you set the second time function.
