Hi gang,
after exchanging the CG on my DSN 177 TWICE within a few months, due to bumping into the house wall while fishing the post out of the post box and due to simply not being super careful, I was fed up with the "natural distressing" of my watch(es) and sold it.
Instead I bought a Lum-Tec M6 (here are some comparison shots next to a Luminor: http://forum.watch-europe-forum.eu/viewtopic.php?t=115&sid=4d0b10d40683cb41e7298e329f2082c6). The case is made from tungsten carbide and said to be (almost) impossible to scratch. This and the obvious Luminor design elements is why I bought it a little over half a year ago.
After wearing it every single day since I got it, I can confirm that so far not one single scratch or dent is visible! I even tried to scratch the housing with a kitchen knife: NOTHING!!! So, as you can imagine I've REALLY come to appreciate the quality of the housing. The same is true for the lume of the watch. Whenever I wake up at night or early morning (when it's COMPLETELY dark) I can still EASILY see what time it is. The lume glows like the radioactive rod that Homer Simpson throws out of the window of his car during the opening of each episode.
So, all in all I'm a happy camper... if only... well, I'm missing the simple design and the tobacco colored (sandwich) dial of the 177. Actually it's starting to become annoying to a point where I'm considering to change it.
Since the movement (SII) is so EXTREMELY simple (very mildly spoken) I wouldn't even mind to exchange this with something a little more decorated, as long as it's an automatic movement.
Ok, in order to not make a long story even longer: guys, please help me your ideas on how to mod this watch? - I'd really like to keep the date and the second, but that's about it. Any idea is HIGHLY appreciated (no matter if it's actually possible or if it makes sense to start with).
Thanks,
Marc
