So I just got this watch and was wondering if the movement is a clone or swiss. I read the tutorial on the forum on how to determine and I have not the slightest idea of what I am looking at. I took pics with an actual digital camera on the macro setting so hopefully these are good enough.

Thanks in advance.

Based on the look of ETA stamp under balance in the last picture i think this is a swiss movement. Clones have not this well formed ETA stamps from my experience.

I think it's a clone. Look at the pic i have here. With all the GEN ETA movts I have, this particular area is different. See the black mark and red arrow? This piece is shortened in the gen application. Does not come to a point like in this pic.

Someone please tell me if this is incorrect. I don't want to be giving miss information.

Im almost 100% sure that the gen dont have the edge of the gear train bridge cut of on new movments maby on older versions.

this is a print scr from ETA 2824-2 manual from 2011.02.07 the newest one.

I'm really sorry. I was looking at the wrong side of the movt.
I believe this is a gen movt. The red arrow in this pic shows what I was talking about.
Sorry for the miss info.

Also the gen eta use both novodiac shock spring and incabloc shock spring depending on version and grade.

If some noticed by the manual pic and actual movment in this thread they are different but both correct.

Gen 2824 for more comparison...I think Capt Ben's is an Eta movement.

Do they put the ETA stamp on clone movements? Just curious but related to this topic. In the first pic from the OP I see the ETA stamp.

Are they ever really "Swiss?" maybe a couple of Chinese fellas with a lil Swiss in the line somewhere.

Does it matter anymore..???>>>>

From what I've read, the clones are pretty much up to the same level as the lower grade Swiss examples anyhow.....
Just don't be stupid and pay extra for Swiss!!!!:lolcina::lolcina:
