I just had time to take some pictures of my new ( new for me; in fact I bought it from TL) Cartier Seatimer.
Just for the record, I never considered Cartier in my plans before seeing this one.
It was a sudden crush and I'm glad now that it happened.
General impression: Great.
Condition: like new; no flaws I was able to see with 4x magnifier.
Compare to Gen: just to be conservative, I would say 97.5%. Although I couldn't tell them apart, unless having both in front of me.
Note: I don't have actual access to the Gen; instead I liberally used gen pictures available on the web.
Technical data ( rep):
MVT: ETA ( advertised as Swiss; I'm not sure though);
Crystal: sapphire ( not sure about AR; but the gen seems not to have it either?!)
Dimensions: ~40mm x 13mm ( gen is ~40mm x 14 mm )
Power reserve: tested after wearing it one normal day - 28 hours
Time keeping: N/A ( yet )
Crown cover stone insert: black ( probably plastic); the gen is supposed to be blue precious stone. The shape of the stone seems OK though.
Lume: some Can't compare it to gen.
First, few pictures of the gen:
front view
back side
clasp
dial & date window details
Next come the rep pictures:
front view
back
clasp
back side of the clasp ( not so great a picture)
detail of the crown cover
The only awful thing I noticed is the CROWN itself.
After removing the cover, one almost can not see it:facepalm:
With some dedication, changing the time and the date can be achieved:wacko:
But winding, no way; unless one has velvet covered steel fingers. I don't.
But it should be the same for people paying $20k for it, so it's OK by me too.
Just look at it:
the bracelet is easy to resizing - links have working screws
Clasp feels sturdy and reliable
Both the gen and the rep are ~40mm diameter; a bit too small for my taste.
But I think it looks good enough on my wrist:
Conclusion: This is definitely a keeper.
I believe that even an owner of the GEN can't tell it's a rep ( unless he's a skilled AD)
Thanks for looking
