Hi,
If you really want it to be a keeper and is ready to throw in some money,
1.) Look for Avitt to do the coating
2.) Contact davidsen for his PAM001A. Except the incorrect font used on the "T Swiss T" dial, it is one of the closest IMO.
Beside money, be prepared to invest in time for the waiting.
Here's the dial from Davidsen
does davidsen make any other dials? i was thinking about a dial something like this:
what do you guys think of this dial?
that's a pre-A pam001 dial from FGD. Impossible to get it now as he is not producing them any more.
The pre-A dial r very similar with pre-V dial with fat numerals n t-Swiss-t under 6 o'clock.
For gen, it is higher in price as it is the last production before richmont bought over panerai.
That r quite a bit of mods to be done of u want to go this route.
Old EL case, good A to F series polished CG, palp or T crown, non AR crystal, pre-V hands from FGD, correct op6500 caseback from jakobh.
Hopes the info help.
I'm doing the same project myself. I've converted my DSN 203a, keeping the movement and original PVD. I added a T48, FGD dial, Torro CG (DLC'd by hijack), flattened and polished canon pinion. The final steps are now a relume from Vac and a Jakob case back. The matte finish of the DSN case was reduced with the help of a chrome wadding cloth turned the pvd to a pencil gray finish. With all the natural wear (thank you yardwork) nicks and dings and scratches the look is very gen-like.
It's been labor of love!
omg... i have NO IDEA what all these terms mean! i feel like i need a RWI glossary of terms to understand the lingo.
DSN?! -- Davidsen, a dealer here and has a sub-forum in our dealer area.
T48?! -- "t" is a member at RWG2 (www.rwgforum.com) who makes replacement crowns for Panerai.
Torro?! -- Toro Bravo is a member over at RepGeeks who sells replacement crown guards for Panerai.
canon pinion?! -- This is the small "post" on the movement that extends through the back of the dial and to which the hands are mounted.
Vac?! Jakob?!!?!??!?! -- Vaccum is a modder/watch repairer here, he has a sub-forum in our watch repairers section. Jakob is a member who is offering aftermarket casebacks for Panerai.
would you please explain and elaborate on these terms?
Yes, pre-A dials should have the same lume color/strength as Pre-V dials.
