Finally got my hands on a V2s this week, after being thoroughly impressed with the V2 for several months. As always the following is my IMO and YMMV.

Additional SubC I have owned:
2018 VRF LV
2017 Noob (V7?) LV
ARF LN V1/2/3

The V2s is by far the best, as FYI, my gen is a 2018 model. I’ll summarize below:

Scale of 1-10, 1 being canal street junk, 10 being gen.

Insert:
Gen 10/10
V2s 9/10
V2 8/10

The printing and platinum paint on all is extremely close. For reference, I considered the Noob V7 to be a 4-5/10. The V2 has a slightly pale shade and less saturated than gen. The V2s is an improvement but missed the mark slightly with the shade of green, it needs a tad bit more yellow hue and it would be 10/10.

Dial:

Gen 10/10
V2s 9/10
V2 9.5/10

The old Noob dials had too much sunburst. The light would radiate and fall off too steeply. This has been corrected but a bit over-corrected. For some reason the V2 looks closer to my eye. Print and quality of the markers is excellent. Much better than the dim print on ARF.

Bracelet/clasp:

Gen 10/10
V2s 8.5/10
V2 8.5/10

The ZZF bracelets feel the same, and are excellent, but have the same sharp edges. For reference I would rate ARF a 8.75-9/10. Slightly better. I have the ARF clasp on my V2.

Case/crown position/lugs:
[null]

I’ll let the forum experts debate this one out. For all practical purposes and while wearing on the wrist, this is not noticeable and makes no difference handling between rep and gen.

Crystal:
Gen 10/10
V2/V2s 7.5/10

They did a good job mirroring the crispness of the reflection (hard to describe). Gen crystals have a certain shine to them, and the black hole is very strong and defined. ZZF black hole is 0-50% strength of gen depending on angle. Gen crystal swap is a must if you’re looking to keep this long term.

Overall, this is an fantastic rep. I would price in a service and gen crystal, and confidently say that for $1000, the R-factory 116610LV is NWBIG.

Pictures:
Gen = 30 date
V2s = 12 date
V2 = 13 date

Hope this helps any of you looking to pull the trigger.
Cheers,

Nice pictures! ZZF dial and insert are still not close to the dynamic range of the gen green color. On top, the ZZF's crown guards are just horrible. ZZF's lugs look quite nice compared to gen.

Nice pics and review bro. Agree the V2/S dials don't have the depth or range of color of the gen. The V2S insert is an anomaly - it looks better in pics than IRL IMO. Next to a VRF insert it's not terribly different to the eye but take an unfiltered pic and the V2S looks much better.

Nice review thank you!
Agreed regarding the ZZF bracelet/clasp, it works ok but has sharp angles. Swapping to an ARF bracelet is a must.

100% agree with those hideous crown guards.

thanks for putting this together! its crazy how close the V2s is. there's something about that gen crystal, that just makes it a bit more special. but i get what you're saying, its hard to explain. also feels like the rep magnification isnt close to the gen

I received today my v2s and Im comparing with my gen sub nodate.

Biggest issue is for me bracelet. Edges are way to sharp and it feels just cheap. For me max 6 out of 10.
Anyone tried to make edges smoother?

Edit:
Doubt that making edges smoother works...
Next to sharp edges, v2s bracelet seems to be bit stiff, but assume that after some time it will loosen or ultrasonic bath needs to be done.

Edit2:
mrsullivan did you have v2s and ARF bracelet in hand? How close gets ARF bracelet from feel to gen?

Great review, ARF bracelet, gen xtal and you have a fantastic rep in the V2s. The best inset to date IMO.

Funny thing on the last pic v2s insert has more yellow hue than it should, not less. Also this watch (gen) looks different according to light and finally, if you show these 3 watches to someone who doesnt know so much about these details like we do snd its like 97% of people, they wouldnt know which one is gen im sure. And yet some of us cant sleep because of these microscopic flaws.

I'm waiting to find an oyster ARF bracelet right now, looking in M2M parts if I can find one. I've had an ARF SD43 v2 and still own a ARF DJ41, and they do make the best bracelets around IMO yes.

The ZZF looks ok, but it feels stiff, edges are sharp and the clasp is too tight I think. The funny thing is that the one on my older ZZF NoDate V1 is way better than on the V2S, I don't know why they went backward with that.

I agree ARF is better.

I’ve examined the ARF GMT bracelet vs gen under loupe and you’re actually correct - the edge of the outer brushed area is rounded off slightly (fractions of a millimeter) where it meets the 90-degree edge of the polished sides.

No idea what machine would replicate this, but it’s the single tangible difference that makes the ARF feel slightly “less than” gen.

I allowed myself a few couple of weeks to snap one from M2M sales for fast delivery, if not I'll just buy one from JTimes yes.

Indeed. What a life. I am so glad I don't care as much as some of these people about excruciating minutia.
