QC PICS OF PAM 535 FROM ANY MAKER WILL BE ALLOWED IN THIS TRHEAD

ALE

Last March 2014, Officine Panerai introduced two new PAMs, one of which was the PAM 535 "Luminor 1950 3 Days GMT Automatic – 42MM". The main features of this watch was the GMT hand as well as the hobnail dial or more commonly referred to as the "clou de Paris" (nail of Paris). the Paris Hobnail dial features a guilloché pattern of hollowed lines that intersect to form tiny pyramidal shapes inspired by the streets of Paris. This subtle detailing, a classic design element of fine Swiss watchmaking, handsomely enhances Panerai’s classic Super-Luminova ® Arabic numerals, hour markers, and subdials. A friend just got one so I thought it best to provide a review. ;)

First off the watch itself. Although the ones that are appearing on TD websites are made of Titanium, the gen is actually made of stainless steel so this particular sample is accurate as possible. This also has the added benefit of making the rep cheaper as Titanium would certainly put a premium on the cost.

The watch is 42 mm, which makes it perfect for those overwhelmed even by the more common 44mm case. Here is a picture with its larger titanium (correct material) destro cousin, the PAM569.

DIAL:

The clous de Paris is very nicely done, similar to that on the PAM569 rep.

The cannon pinion is flush to the hands and the post on the subdial hands is fine as well.

CASEBACK:
The back reveals an A7750 powered P.9001 decorated movement. You can see the faux power reserve on the caseback.

Rotor looks okay.

Engravings are done very nicely on the caseback.

CASE:
The mid case is made of stainless steel and look very nice.

I hope that this short review may prove useful to those on the fence about . :)

Thanks Mysterio, finally we see a review of one of these 42 mm 1950's.
I think the maker did a very good job on the case, the thing I was more curious about was the thickness of the watch.
Due to the 7750 movement I was afraid the rep could have looked too thick and unbalanced, but luckily that doesn't seem the case.
Rep given :)

The GMT function is 24 hours which is expected considering the movement. The gen is 12 hours.

Thank you Mysterio for this nice review.

May I ask which maker (suppose V6F) it is and which TD supplied this watch with the polished SS case.
The only versions I've seen on TD sections are with the TI brushed case...

thanks for your answer.

That is actually an interesting question as my friend came about procuring the watch outside of the TD system. The origin isn't China as far as he's told me. So this is probably a review of a one-off. Quality is on par with what the Chinese factories have produced so maybe if shown a picture our TDs may be able to come up with a sample.

But. Seriously we would need to know the origin of this rep because dial, hands and CP seem almost perfect and the case and CG seem nice too !!

I remembered KW originally came out with a brushed steel rep of this watch which is wrong. This version is not only more accurate to the gen but is also very well made. I'm still betting that this is from KW as well but I might be wrong. I'm going to get this one because it is the most well made 42mm rep IMO.

Okay, my friend is not particularly sure about the source but he says it's most likely either Indonesia or a nearby country. Definitely not China. I've seen Indonesian websites sell reps so it's a definite possibility.

Could be Turkey? I've seen some very high end reps coming from there.

here in indonesia, lot of local dealer sell reps, from very bad reps to high end reps, but indonesian can't even make a rep

the rep imported from another country, but mostly china i think, imho

lot of shopping mall outlet sell reps here, but its bad reps and mid end reps
