I recently picked up this very lightly used gen Panerai strap on eBay for around £100. It's 24/22mm, regular length and I'm 99% sure it's the Gold Calf Cashmere model. I asked the seller many questions about it and how he had it - I even said in one of my messages to him that I had to be careful because there were so many fakes about....... :D

I wanted it specifically for my PAM111N to give it even more of a gen look and feel - and that's exactly what it has done! The strap is lovely and soft - it feels great.

I'm really delighted with it and would feel very confident of wearing this even in the company of gen PAM owners. ;)

Here are a few pics for your enjoyment.

I'm miss my Pam111, wish the noob factory would get their finger out. Gen strap just complements the rep perfect Del, fantastic pics as always mate.

That strap looks really soft. Del, your posts should come with a warning attached to them. That is, if you happen to be on the fence about buying a watch, click away post haste as the images are top notch. Now I want a 111.

I was wondering exactly about investing on a gen strap. After this pics I have no doubt anymore. Great watch Del.

How do you think it compares to some of the better aftermarket straps?

Maybe say against kain, toshi or the like...

I always think aftermarket = more vintage style, rugged etc

Whereas gen looks dressier... Looks awesome. You can sometimes get good deals on the risti accessories section too!

It looks great! But what's the difference between gen's strap and rep's? Can anyone shows the pictures? Thanks a lot!

Thanks guys! :)

As for the comparison to the rep straps, it feels so much softer and generally of higher quality. I was not totally convinced about it when I bought it but (thankfully) was very impressed with it when it arrived.

Don't get me wrong, some of the recent rep straps are very good and the black calf strap that came with my Radiomir 380N feels almost as good as this gen strap so that also made me quite happy! However, once you get to the croco-pattern leather rep straps then I think they are much less convincing.

As for after-market straps, it depends on whether you want to keep the gen "OEM" look or not. If not then the straps produced by our TDs are excellent of course but I wanted the gen look on the 111. ;)

+1 Anything about the markings, the threads, etc.

Del, your post just made me think more seriously about getting an OEM, hence my question. :)

Thanks ALE. :)

@ mysterio - the markings are very similar to the better rep straps but are a little more obvious I reckon. In some of the rep straps I've had the markings have been a little faint, i.e. the stamping was not hard enough, or whatever. The thread is very similar as far as I can tell, although the stitching is absolutely perfect of course. There is an overall feel of quality in the strap that rarely occurs with a rep strap, even the very good ones like on the PAM127E and PAM380N imo.

Thanks for the information Del. :) Here is the PAM380 on the new gen shoes. It does feel significantly different from the rep calf strap and for the better. :D
