{*PC Team*} Different New Style PAM Bracelets on different PAMs

There have been questions regarding bracelet compatibility of certain PAMs on certain bracelets. This is an effort towards providing some answers to those questions. :)

There are basically two types of bracelet designs, the old type and of course, since one is called old, the other one would be the new style (OP actually does not differentiate these two and just call both metal bracelets).

There is a difference between the two aside from the design of the links (the old one has overlapping scallop design, the new type has a more modern right angled design). The old type has tabs that protrude at the sides of the end links which basically grab the bottom of the lugs and provide an anchor for the bracelet aside from the screw that threads into the bracelet, end link and the lugs. This bracelet was used on earlier series PAMs (J series as far as I can tell as I've seen these bracelets on PAM111 J series).

You can see the tabs on this picture of the back on the PAM111 J

The new type does not have these side tabs, instead it has these tabs at the end of the end links which latch onto similarly shaped depressions on the mid-case and provide a similar type of support for the bracelet. These came out on the L-series 1950s cased PAMs such as the PAM328 and PAM329, which were released in 2009 (as per correct millesimation).

For this thread, we will use two bracelets and two watches. The bracelets are both new type, one coming from the old A7750 PAM328 L series rep (unknown factory), and the other one coming from the new Noob PAM299 O series. The watches are the PAM299 O series and the PAM356 O series, both made by Noob factory.

First off, let's compare the lug screws from both watches, just to see if there are any differences. PAM299 on the left, PAM356 on the right, unless otherwise specified.

No differences in shape or length.

Second, let's compare the two bracelets and see whether we can easily identify one from the other. PAM299 bracelet on the left, PAM328 bracelet on the right, unless otherwise specified.

As you can see, there is a difference between the two, the PAM299 SEL cutout is circular (and dull), the PAM328 SEL cutout is angular (and polished).

The two watches in question. PAM299 O on the left and PAM356 O on the right, unless otherwise specified.

Now proceeding with the experiment with the question, Will the PAM299 O series bracelet fit the PAM356 O?
2GE1FVR.png
Upon fitting the SEL, the tabs on the PAM299 bracelet fit the PAM356 mid case perfectly. However, will the lug bar go through all the holes (there is always the possibility of that, as this is the reason I could not use the PAM328L bracelet with the PAM312 O series, which is caused by the slightly thicker case)?

Success! :D

The SEL fitment is nice, being almost flush with the lugs.

Now since the PAM299 head is all by its lonesome and the PAM328L bracelet is also pairless...hmmm, I wonder. So we go through the process, step by step.
SEL fitment, PAM328L bracelet on PAM299 I had to use the lug bar as the SEL simply would not stay put.

Looking good, now with the full bracelet.

SEL fitment, not as nice as with the PAM299 bracelet on the PAM356 (as well as the PAM299 bracelet on the PAM299), but it'll do.

I hope this proves to be useful as well as informational. :) As a parting shot, I remembered that the PAM438 Tuttonero bracelet was a new style design but using the old style SEL tabs at the side. The PAM438 was a Luminor 1950s cased PAM with screw in lugs. Would it fit a Luminor Bettarini case with screw in lugs as well? I did not have much in terms of PAM choices (yeah, I don't have enough PAMs  ) but I remembered I had a PVD PAM, so I tried it and viola! I present you the Luminor Black Seal Tuttonero!!! ;)

Since the PAM328 bracelet came from an L series rep and we're trying to fit it to an O series PAM356/299, then it may not only be factory that is a factor but age as improvements are continuously being done on the individual parts such as cases, crowns, bezels and even bracelets.

As for the last question, not a thing was done on either the watch head nor the end links. They fit very nicely, albeit with a slight difference in color. :)

i already read this review, not work ootb, must with mod :(

http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/...ble-on-SS-bracelet?highlight=pam+243+bracelet

i think i must get pam 164 or pam 356 if i want noob bracelet work without mod

Unfortunately yes. You will need to mod the end links of the new type SS bracelet to work with the PAM243. While pondering this, I thought of another watch similar in structure to the PAM243, the PAM332. I moved the ceramic bracelet from the previous combo and came up with a new hybrid PAM. ;)

Hi mysterio!

First of all I want to give you props for this thread! It's the most usefull read I found.
Thank you for bringing some content about the barely mentioned Pam Bracelets.
(currently the links for the first 3 pictures are broken)

To my question...

However, will the lug bar go through all the holes (there is always the possibility of that, as this is the reason I could not use the PAM328L bracelet with the PAM312 O series, which is caused by the slightly thicker case)?

Can you post detail pictures of that problem? I just want to see if it can be fitted with little effort.
Advice for reliable bracelet dealers would be welcome as well.

Best regards
Bee

Picture links are fixed (they got broken when PT changed websites). Uploaded them on imgur. :)

As for the second request, unfortunately I cannot as I have currently no other 44mm 1950s case left in my collection. However to describe my statement in more detail, what I found out was although the SEL seemed to fit the case, the alignment of the holes of the SEL and the ones on the case did not line up, therefore indicating that pushing the lugbar through would not be successful.
