Patina on Black Bay Bronze - calling all owners!!

Hi RWI community

I am on the fence about a Black Bay Red and a Black Bay Bronze Blue but leaning heavily to the bbbb I had some reservations about the Bronze case.

The rep Bronze case looks AMAZING but was wondering since they probably can't get the metal mix totally 100% and (I am assuming) the quality and purity of the metals might not be the same as Gen that the resulting patina might be very different.

Can owners of the Black Bay Bronze share photos of their watches so the community can see how well they have patina'ed? Can you also indicate how long you have worn the watch for as an indicator of time to patina.

Thanks!!

I thought I read somewhere (I think this forum) that the reps won't truly patina due to the aluminum in the metal or something.

Oh wow!! Is that the patina on the rep? How long did it take to get that color?

I read that on Gen Bronze they added aluminum to slow down the patina effect as well. The reps have also added aluminum but I am not sure if the percentage is the same as gen hence the potential difference in patina.

This is mine (if you zoom in you can see the patina clearly) this is about 8 months old but I only wear it a couple of times a month.
You can speed up the process with the sulphur trick (boiled eggs in a bag) or liver of sulphur. (see this forum for details) is a beauty of a watch and the bronze can have a life of its own to look vintage to a lesser or greater degree.

Is there a way to prevent the patina ? I know we often put certain preserving waxes on copper pipes to keep them shining and away from oxidation - wonder if these waxes can be used on watch cases as well ?

The watch is 1 year old and the patina is obtained in a natural way.

If you put aluminium in the mix them it is no longer bronze but a bastard alloy.
Bronze is copper and tin with maybe a dash of antimony.

The patination will be different for different wearers due to the differing amounts of acidity in our bodies.
If you want to stop it you will have to varnish the watch body or use another barrier coating.

Reps is the same blend as the gen. The v1 was more bronze and was incorrect (but imo a better patina)

Here's a few pics of my V1 after a year or so. I'm rather fond of the patina.

Mines about a year old as well.

Wow there is a little bit of green on it too!! Haha.

Is it difficult to find straps that are 23mm (think that's the lug width) that fit it exactly and fit well? Possibly one of the stumbling blocks cos I like bracelets....

The straps I've been using are 24mm. The one on now is 24mm. As long as they're soft leather, you'll be okay.

I haven't heard of any issues with that. The case backs on both my bronze Tudor reps are plated or pvd stainless steel. I suppose if you have a reaction to the case back you'll just have to wear it on a NATO [emoji846]

@FiloVirodae thanks. What type of band do you have on yours in the photos? Thinking of cancelling my black bay red order for the bucherer edition now ....

I'm wearing one of the straps that I currently have listed in m2m! Lol I love both. Remember, they are two completely different watches. Size and weight. Bronze is heavier and bigger.

I don't have much service right now, but I'll post my side by side of my red and bronze
