Hi all,

I recently acquired my first rep via M2M.

The model I chose was the Patek Phillipe 7118 (3kf). I have abnormally small wrists so decided to pull the trigger on this watch (35mm).

There doesn’t seem to be much information on this forum regarding this particular watch, so I decided to open this thread for some feedback.

Thank you!

Have you made a comparison with gen pics? If so did you find obvious flaws?

It is indeed a reference not many talk about as it i snot as popular - i myself enjoy this reference quite a lot and also the vintage character due to its size. People like A. Squarzi really prove that this watch is indeed wearable for men too. It suits your wrist perfectly fine.

3KF did a fantastic job - even got the date font right. Dial color is great too (keep in mind in gen there are also two different blue dials out there). Overall finish is nicely done - compared to the gen it can always be a bit more refined yes but out the box it is decent for what you pay.

The bracelet is also great especially the different clasp mechanism.

Personally it is a hidden gem worth having. As people dont really know the 7118 it is also irrelevant having minute differences. Without a side by side comparison those would never be scrutinized as much as with its big brother the 5711.

If one wanted to name one thing it would be the hour markers which appear to be a bit more polished on the gen - revealing more bevels, more reflection of the lume filled hour sticks.

Gen dials are available so might be a modding project but not really worth it IMO.

I fell in love with this watch the moment I saw it.

It’s something different and unique, just what I wanted for my first rep.

Thanks for the feedback!

My wife is wearing a 7118, 3KF. She has very small wrists and looks nice on her. But for men honestly it is a bit small what I can see on your pics.
But as always you have to like it not others.

I own a gen Cartier santos (35mm) and a Rolex OP (36mm) so this is not much different to those watches.

The 35/36mm range is widely worn by men but I appreciate your feedback.

Except the 7118 is specifically geared towards women. Men who buy it are using it to get a chance to buy Nautilus 5711/5811. Reps don’t have these AD minimum spend games and there is very little reason to get the 7118.

The difference is that Rolex and Cartier both over several decades have marked the 35/ 36mm models as men’s watches. They weren’t pieces for a chance at a 40mm DateJust. They were the final piece. The tank is an even smaller men’s watch and it exists because of the perception that it is the end product for men. Not an intermediary for another watch.

Perception of how the watch is marketed matters a lot. Patek 7118 was never for men. Men have to just buy it like they buy Codes - To get to a royal oak (or 5811 for Patek )

The 7118 is marketed for women - agreed, but why should be put a label on who can or can’t wear this watch.

For men with smaller wrists this is a perfect substitute for someone who doesn’t feel comfortable wearing a larger 5711/5811.

If the op 36 and Santos are worn by unisex then this can be too.

Appreciate the feedback.

Your hands can pull off a 5711.

If you wanna wear women’s lingerie (which men can and there’s nothing against it), …. You can and it’s your choice !

I think it looks awesome. I got my wife a white 7118 and she's tall and lean and it looks great on her. I'm a 200lbs dude and actively contemplating getting one for myself. Forget marketing. The watch as an object either fits or it doesn't.
That said, there is something magical about the 5711. It wears much smaller than one might think. If you're curious, I'd suggest giving it a try.
