Has anyone seen any replicas of this watch. Does not have to be gold. Actually the color of the watch or the dial is irrelevant.
Must have the metal mesh band and be manual wind (solely because I want it to stay thin)

Seems like an easy watch to clone and probably on the cheaper side around 200-300$. Does not have your typical Omega Moonwatch complications warranting 700$ price tag.

Have check Jtime but looks like any links for this watch are long time gone. Trusty has blank category for Ellipse as well but I have been checking for a couple years now and havent seen any updates yet.

DHGate seems tobe the answer...but i told you nothing ! :D

Look at this amazing Unboxing of this NOS (New Old Stock ) 1978 Ellipse

@Vineetd23 : i assume you are joking, of course !

The Golden Ellipse, with the Gondolo and the Calatrava (and the first 3800 Nautilus Jumbo ) is THE Patek Watch.

Class, Elegance, and Understatement.

Unfortunately, there are no real review about the DHGate reps. Or did I miss them?

I was not joking.

I agree with you, not my taste either ;)

DHG can be a crap shoot, but also can be useful when no TD's can or will source what you want.

You need to do a shit ton of due diligence, and even then sometimes, like I did recently, you get mis sold something, i.e. they say it is a certain factory and when it turns up it's a much cheaper item. Sadly I had already allowed DHG to release the payment before a mate on here pointed out it wasn't what I thought !!

Thankfully whilst I could have got the item cheaper it is OK for my intended use, (display queen) and it works well.

By and large though I've had way more good successes on other DHG watches.

I think my issue with DHG is the lack of any detail at all.

For the above watch, thickness is key. The watch has to be thin 8mm or less and just doesn't look good any thicker than that.

I have yet to see any postings on DHG mentioning any dimensions of the watch. No diameters, no thicknesses and forget about movements. I can never tell is it quartz, is it manual hw or auto ?

I think the margins are thin on these watches because of limited demand but I sure wish we had a bit more middle ground TDs out there.

I tried to ignore this myself as its not worth discussing really. As Horace said the watch is classic and so extremely simplified.

But I just fail to see any distinct features on it besides its shape that you would feel warrant the title of atrocious.

To feel so passionately over something so simple looking, its truly beyond my understanding.

It’s a horrible looking watch, what can I say? Slapping a Patek on it, doesn’t make it nice to me. I’m not sure if the oblong oval dial shape or everything about thr bracelet is worse? What a combo.

Having been offered a gen, I now regret not buying it - it looked great on my wrist...

Soon or later i will buy an Ellipse; especially after the release of the horrible (IMHO) Cubitus (what a stupid and vulgar name ), i feel the need of buying an Ellipse
