The minute repeater is a complication not yet mastered by the rep factories. As a rule of thumb, the simpler the watch, the better the replication, i.e. Panerai. There are some relatively cheap minute repeaters out there in the micro brand and gen world, but I wouldn’t count on a rep anytime soon. Patience and compromise are the watchwords of the rep game. Welcome aboard!

Hey buddy. Do you mind sharing info on the micro brands with minute repeaters?
I know Nivrel and Kelek have some ‘affordable’ repeater watches. Claude Meylan too. If you know of others please let me know.

The most readily available "affordable" repeaters (and not microbrands) are Citizen and Invicta -- there are some really cool Citizen models. There are some guys who have taken old Angelus pocket watches and done one-offs. Paige comes to mind on that as well as TNT/Extreme Watches. Check out the homage forums for more guys who do that. Xeric supposedly has one in the works as well.

If you really want to go down a rabbit hole, there's a guy in China named Qin Gan who is a tinkerer and made some really interesting pieces -- enamel dials, retrograde dials, repeaters, alarms, etc. If it was on an old railroad pocket watch movement, he would play with it to make it unique. I've seen a few pieces of his for sale over the years. It helps if you have a Chinese translator app and someone you can have double check it. I don't think I've ever seen anything on his stuff in English.

Thanks buddy. Appreciate it. Angelus looks really interesting as a brand. They've also produced some rattrapante chrono's. I'm checking the homage forums.

Do you know more about the chinese guy, how to contact him or something? It could be interesting to own a minute repeater and/or alarm watch if he could do something at a reasonable pricing.
