Actually, if you trawl through eBay and the wide range of Chinese "trade" sites you'll see "copies of copies" everywhere. Clearly someone somewhere realised that there can be issues (like imprisonment) if caught making 1:1 reps. I have seen those faux tourbillon Breitlings for $12 delivered, yet they have weird logos and names on the dial and casebacks. Pams are common too, as are Rollies and Mega's - having an addled brain like mine helps when looking as they're not advertised as such-and-such rep etc.

Parnis makes many very nice inexpensive watches. Check out parnisshop for all of there stuff.

I used to have a Parnis Pam. It was cheap and decent... at least it was pretty decent for how cheap it was.

Parnis make some excellent quality homage watches, there is no need for a 'thumbs down' logo.

I think Parnis is just label Chinese agreed to use to make it difficult to find the producer. I mean - several makers use "Parnis" and "Parnis" now means "no one".

Whats the quality like on Parnis watches when compared to a rep of the same price?

Also, an odd question... are they waterproof?

It depends on what you are looking at. I would be tempted by the rep for the name on it but Parnis stuff is perfectly acceptable also.

I would not trust any chinese watch as waterproof until you have silicon-greased the seals and tested it.
