Hey

Wondering who here has a shark strap or know who sells the best quality shark straps for good price? Are most shark straps much thinner about 3 to 3.5mm? How do shark straps compare to leather straps in feel? Do shark straps age and if they do how does it change? How durable are shark straps?

I already bought a nice leather strap. Thinking maybe to get something different for my second strap and go with a ALL black shark strap. Like to have an idea what to expect from a shark strap.

Nice sharks = Dirk's, period. I'd personally would not put shark on the newer models, they belong to the pre-Vendome era IMO. Maybe on some of the current base models as well, but not on a fancy new PAM.
Shark is very durable and ages nicely, but does not develop such a patina as some calf.

Just look at pictures showing the patina and aging in Dirk's section

The accessories section at Paneristi.com is the best place to source shark straps. They will cost between $150-250. The best makers are Dirk, Paci, and Simona. Others by Orloff and HK Tan are nice

I was planning to buy a good ALL black leather strap but thinking maybe getting a all black shark strap might be cool. I just have no idea how a shark strap will feel and if i would like it in person. Looking at dirk straps, im attracted to his BLack calf leather strap as well. Its fully waterproof? I wonder if his waterproof black leahter strap ages nicely and gets all the cool creases. I just realized its all in euros so 100euro calf strap is about $170 and his shark straps are almost $250. Wow kind of expensive!
Would a shark strap look good on a PAM111?

Dirk seems good but im looking for an all black strap and he doesnt have shark in all black.
Simona all black shark strap about 250$ and not liking too much of the look
Mario paci only has one shark strap and its in some brown color and about $300! too expensive i think




This is the nicest all black shark strap i found from rob montana thestrapsmith. The texture looks a little different from the other sellers shark straps. Kind of matte black color which i like. I dont like those shark straps with glossy look. Also i think it has a good sized buckle. I dont like how the heroic18 and kain heritage buckles are so big that it doesnt match the strap and almost as big as the watch. This one is $190 usd. What do you guys think?

I like his waterproof black rubberized calf with black stitching or Vero cuio nero black stitching all black strap. Which one would age better? I guess the vero cuoio nero?

Prices are pretty expensive for a calf strap! 130euros(180USD) strap + 39euros(55USD) shipping

Grimlocktime, tell me why you like rob montanas all black shark strap. It looks the nicest to me from all the ones ive seen so far for an all black shark strap. Still not sure if shark is really that good for a strap? I just have no experience with shark at all



Anyone tried Porto tempo straps? Quality? Handmade? This all black leather strap looks good and affordable only about $120 USD. I really like the surface texture and look. I like how it has a tiny bit of shine but mostly matte black. I dont like glossy or oily looking straps. What do you guys think?

Im mostly just looking for an all black leather strap but also open to look at other materials like shark, buffalo

Just contacted porto tempo... because really interested in his all black leather strap. He emailed back and said it was sold 1 minute ago.. bad luck to me
Found out they use italian leathers and make straps from all their leathers limited and once sold out there is no more. They dont do custom orders. Missed out on a nice black strap at a good price ~120$

Didn't think you will have problem finding all black strap.

Anyway Shark is pretty cool texture. It is rough on the surface but soft enough to bend easily. It's a love it or hate it thing because of the texture. Hence a few top brands like MontBlanc use Shark print cowhide for their wallets instead of the real thing.

Oh so the surface is rough? I thought the surface looked soft to touch. I see now hmmm wish i can see the straps in person. If i get all black shark strap i guess would be from Strapsmith rob montana. Best looking one i think. If i bought it and did not like it, maybe i can return it or resell it and not lose too much money?


I really wanted that italian all black strap from Porto tempo but they are limited and sold out . I love that texture and balance of matte/shine. Now im trying to find a strap maker with a similar black leather like the portotempo strap.
