Not so often pre-a builds come to light unfortunately. Though pre-a deserves as much attention and respect as pre-v does.
This 001 was quite a long shot due to some rare parts to be sourced, i.e. the case and the CG.
The case is an old bettarini one. I can't name the manufacture exactly, but the case is of great quality and geometry, slim bezel and it perfectly suits the pre-a epoch. It's been significantly reshaped and re-polished. The CG is of a-f series, it's slim and flat as it should be. The CG pin has a rubber bushing so the lever moves very smoothly.
The rest of the specs are:
- Custom made solid CB with the 6502 case reference engravings
- T40 deep dish crown
- 3mm thick single-dome sapphire crystal
- Matte black T-SWISS-T dial (blackened brass) with tritium lume shade flat filled indices
- Custom made 0.3mm backplate is blackened, aged and stamped with model number. Soldered dial feet are for 6497 movement
- Pre-V hands. Snow white lume
- a6497 completely serviced (washed, oiled, re-assembled, regulated). Pre-A engravings on the bridges
- H3 CP/HW set. Flat polished CP
- Movement holders made to firmly secure the movement inside the case
- Titanium lug tubes
- Custom made vintage leather 24mm 130 x 80mm strap with tobacco thread stitching
- Mirror polished engraved 24mm pre-a buckle
