Panerai - I hate you!

I've only been reading this forum for a couple of weeks as I was thinking of geting a rep Planet Ocean to keep my wrist warm while my gen SMP goes off for a service and rest (I wear it every day).

Thinking turned to buying pretty quickly (got a PO from Narikaa) and I was very impressed with the level of quality for the outlay. So, no problem so far; mild addiction to looking at the forums, only spent £68, possibly thinking about getting a UPO, nothing really bad, until I innocently clicked on the Panerai area...

Now I'm screwed! I'd never even heard of Panerai and never seen one in a watch shop in the UK, now I literally dream about them! God they're beautiful, the tan straps with contrasting stitching, sandwich dials, simple faces and pornographic exhibition casebacks...!

I have to have one, now. My heart was initially set on a Noob 111, but then I saw the 112 and preferred the cleaner face, then I saw the 292 and fell for the black case, now I just don't know anymore!

There are so many models and I like all of them, so unless someone can identify one that has the face and clear caseback of a 112 with the black case of the 292, I'm going to have to buy several!

Where to start? Any advice is welcome, although you will be guilty of pushing me into addiction! Unless I get a very good reason not to, I'm probably going to order a Noob Factory 112 from Torobravo tomorrow, unless anyone has experience of the beginner version is a good buy (that way I could order a 111 and 112 for the same price...)?

Oh dear, you are doomed, DOOOOOOOMED I tells ye!
No one stops at one Pam. it just can't be done. My 112 is my favourite,
clean and simple.


If it's in budget get the Noob, it's a better rep by far.
Not that the beginner is not good value for money but if you are thinking of replacing
the PO rep with a UPO already I think you want the Noob Factory version of the Pam.

The 360 doesn't have a clear case back tho.. But with a clear caseback people can identify the incabloc and know its a rep....although 99% won't notice... Hahaha

Ahh the Rep Bug has set in - nice work - the TD on here will look after you.

In my view you should Save your money and get a Super Mod - better in the long run and you will be much more happier with it.

I despise Panerai too!! I started with a 286, then a 390. Now, it got me poisoned for a 243 which at first I didn't have any plan to get it because I used to think Submersibles are like punk steam watch and fugly!
Irony...now I'm on the verge of ordering it...

I know how you feel!

First, I bought a 177 from aTD. Wow...I really despised it. Then, after despising it for a few days, I bought a 219 Destro. Gosh, I despised it so much.

Then, I decided to despise a 390. While waiting for the delivery of the 390, I saw a DLC'ed 329 that a member was selling...so I decided to despise that also!

I have 2 more incoming....a 112 and a 029. I can hardly wait to despise them.

Somewhere in the midst of all of this, I saw a Hublot Ice Bang that I just had to have...to despise it also, of course!

I also bought about 15 different straps and a nice watch box. This way I can despise them all at once!!

All this happened in 6 weeks...my wife is getting nervous!

To all the guys out here in RWI land who have been despising Pams for years, and to the ones who have just recently started despising Pams....

I DESPISE YOU ALL!!

Wow, do we sound similar. I too had never heard of Panerai when I joined here. My first rep was a 112 from davidsen--which I still love. Now I have about 8 and have sold all my other reps except the B&R 'Military'. You WILL end up with a bunch. It's too late, my friend, you have the disease which afflicts us all here on this sub-forum. In all seriousness, because of their simplicity, Panerai must have beautiful straps. Budget for one for each watch from one of our wonderful strap makers--and despite what others say, they gotta be leather. Simple leather!

This affliction is so common there should be a support group for it. When I first got off the boat here at RWI, I too had never heard of Pams. What's more, I thought they were ugly!
A TD had a 111h on sale super-cheap so I thought I'd try one, just to see what all the fuss was about.
I still have that 111, and a 127, and an 088... had a 341, sold it, and wished I hadn't. Also have an homage Pam.
