Okay let me start of by saying I am somewhat skeptical of this news but someone posted this on risti so I just thought I’d mention it here.

Apparently, someone was talking to their ad and that dealer told them panerai has been leaning toward smaller models and will stop making their 47mm models.

I’m not sure if this is true or accurate or if it just includes some specific lines/models/references.

Anyone hear anything about this?

It’s their DNA, I would be surprised if they do that.
Unless they do it on purpose to keep these 47 only for special or limited edition in the future but I doubt

So they want to stop making ~30% of the current models?

Sound like BS to me. Maybe a temporary move to hike up interest, as the brand seems to be slowing down in popularity. In the current market Rolex, AP and Patek are all much more sought after.

There seems to be a trend toward smaller cases starting in the industry. So maybe…

They are targeting Asian market with smaller pams.
44-47 are for US / Western countries.

Sounds like BS.

My thought as well. This was only an associate at an AD making this claim and reported by someone second hand on the forums so there is a lot that can be misinterpreted or miss related too.

I do see panerai making a move toward much smaller cases which is why it caught my attention. I’d be interested to see what they do though

He may be just guessing based on fact Panerai will be releasing whole bunch of 44mm submersibles or he’s simply making stories out of his ass. People make BS on watch forums all the time.
we will see more 47mm Pams.

IMO many Asians love big watches despite having smaller wrists.
But i think a turning point in the industry has been reached. Watches got bigger and bigger for the past 50 years. Look at pics from the 70s. 37mm were considered acceptable watches for men. You have to keep changing the designs a tiny bit to incentivise sales. I do think in the next decade we will see a trend towards smaller and slimmer models.

They will probably go for smaller Modells in the 40-42mm Range. But the 47mm are their DNA, I can't believe they will discontinue them.
