Here's a thread on the evolution of the number 3, hoping to see more and more good rep.
In the next days, I will write a thread on numbers 6 and 9.

As usual, tnx to google translate ;)

We begin of course by the production Pre-Vendome.

The shape of the 3 is typical, rough, beautiful.
The face is milled and filled with tritium manually one by one, this means that each dial is unique with variations also substantial filling, obviously is fuller and the index is fascinating.
We can see in the photos below are some examples of this typical and beautiful "3".

I would like to point out the splendor of the rarest indices No-Match orange typical of some 5218-201A and 5218-202A

This font and method of filling is substantially maintained Pre-Vendome era up to the serial production of A Pre-Vendome later became current Richemont

The first real substantial change in font of the number 3 occurs with the start of production of the quadrants A serial tritium Vendome.
The dial is still milled and then filled with tritium, but the filling is done mechanically rather than manually.
It 's true, however, that even in this case one can see different levels of filling of tritium although far less obvious than the previous type.
Even in this case more indexes appear more full and are appreciated.

From personal experience I can say that generally indexes with filling of tritium appear more pronounced in the last quadrant tritium products and therefore often on serial B rather than A, even more often in the type "left" (where the other three there 'is ...) the filling is often more pronounced.
The shape of 3 tritium Serial A and B is typical and recognizable with the classical bar line short upper and beautiful.
To tell the truth I can tell, in the myriad of watches visas, have also met two (and I mean only 2) tritium dials with 3 long with locking top.
For my personal opinion quadrants were of dubious origin (do not say originality ...) so for me a tritium dial Serial A and B must have unavoidably a 3 with locking top short.

With the serial B debuts then the new Luminova dial with three this time takes on a new characteristic elongated shape with locking top we can see below.

This type will remain in place in practice, until serial current including unchanged even with the use of SuperLuminova.
With the serial G debut on Pam 005 with its waltz dial. This type will be in practice, until present including serial unchanged even with the use of SuperLuminova.

here is for the first time the use of the back 3 with bar line upper short, beautiful.

Here's an example

The serial H inaugurates then the new type, totally different, the dial sandwich, no more than one quadrant milled and filled but an upper quadrant perforated with underlying a layer of luminescent material.
Regarding the 3 the sandwich type remains for the time being only

We will find a beautifully then 3 with locking top and short on the beautiful color aged Luminova pam 367

Boutique Editions on type pam 411 we find a new font of 3, especially printed and aged luminova, we can see below.
This type is also found in the particular pam 366fu

Thanks! Nice work, I read it "3" times ;-)

Tnx :D

Sadly, seems that no one is interested in this type of thread...at this point I think it's unnecessary open one thread about the 6 and the 9...

I definitely enjoy threads like these. It's the little things that are so easy to overlook, and if they are not pointed out then most people never knew they were there to begin with. Great info here!

Happy to read this :)

But, apparently, the 99% of rwi don't care at all :/

Thanks man. Your research is relevant now and it will be very important if the H and N factories produce Pre V and Pre A models.

great review, as a newbie I'm impressed with this. Never crossed my mind that such variations could exist on a font in a dial.
I'm learning a lot here

I don't agree with you this is an interesting thread for our hobby.
You need more time because this is not a thread to be read in a minute.
Just that. .
I myself I have not yet been able to get the time to read it, because I have a problem at work and I'm very busy nowadays.
I have already seen too your posts about S.Stalone and the Pre-V strap. When I have time I will read them carefully.
Please post your studies and you will get good replies
I encourage you to continue in this way, we need original post like this one. Believe me

Thanks
