Panerai 5218-205A Slytech Luminor - Anybody have one ?

I am interested in River's Clearance offering of a Pam 5218-205A Slytech w/Swiss 6497 for $229. USD. It looks really good. The only thing missing is "Firenze" on the case back, otherwise the dial and CG and Crown look good. Anybody have one ? or Comments please !!

i think its a good deal, this is the real swiss 6497 . Fonts look good and correct. i think a canion pin fix and relume....and its a wonderful piece.

i dont like SLY - so i dont like this model to much

but i have one anyways, this is how it should look : ( i wish )

The only thing close enough is the dial txt, the dial as a whole is miles off. Numerals aren't even close, since gen one comes with sunken filled-in pre-V indices, while River's comes with standard Vendome sausage dial. So far no rep manufacturers (bar DSN) managed to produce a decent pre-V 5218 rep, to my knowledge anyway.
Caseback engraving is nice, though.


I'd keep saving for another watch and steer away from this one, but that's just me.
There's always a reason for clearance sale :wink:

Thanks Babola for the comments. I can't tell from Rivers' picture the true nature of the indices and numerals on the rep, but that difference would drive me nuts. At least I'd never run into anybody with one to compare it too, LOL, but I'll re-think this one. I haven't purchased a new Pam for quite a while and I'm getting itchy for something new.
Oh well........onward!!
