Alright guys it's time for me to buy by first Panerai and I would like a watch that is big and grabs ppl's attention. I like the 47mm 1950 but also the Chronos which are 44mm are also great. Is there a great different between these two in size, is it an obvious size difference or does not not make much of a difference?

the difference in size is very noticeable.....

the fiddy will be significantly thinner but much larger, very sleak but very large.

the 44mm case is smaller but taller and much more bulky.

better get them both just to be safe :)

Fiddy 47mm case is actually a lot thicker than Marina/Base 44mm. Domed xtall only slightly offsets its thickness, but only visualy.

what size strap do you wear?

-

A good rule of thumb may be, how comfy are you with a strap 125/80 or larger - if that's OK for you then a 47 should be OK.

YEP - and 130/85. Funny thing is - seriously - was my wife saying Fri how 'small' my wrists are, relative to me - heh, heh. So, to answer your question, in my case my nickname is definitely not ironical

No offense - I need the Antipodean sense of tearing one's - mine, whomever, pompousity down. I realize you went there (from EUR), I was born there [Oz but close to NZ in relative terms] and went north ... ya know what I mean, I expect. All good!

'Cept, now I've decided to live over here - so time to 'bee-haavfe', as Austin P would have it.

Cheers, BBB

ps I still drive a bit like I'm on the Autobahn - I just wish drivers doing 60-70 mph would move over ... like they do in Deutschland. Fast driving is safe, provided (1) the car + tires are capable and (2) everyone knows the rules.
One of which is to move over if you do not intend to overtake - which most seem not to understand

Actually, I think this would look totally hot on my (most women) wife - she 'had' me at "tiny gold chain on slim ankle" when I followed her around the pool - after many months of 'net dating across continents

But maybe the Fidd would be too big (as I really contemplate it)!
