Panerai 288K : the tube

Hi everyone,

I just got this nice Rad 288 on M2M, and there is one little detail that bugs me (are'nt we obsessed by one detail in each of our reps...) : the rep tube sticks out quite more than on the original model. My question is : would it be a direct swap to a gen tube on this case?

I plan to go for a gen crown as well to make it perfect if it's a go.

ahhh, got ya, the version you have here with the st19 does have a longer tube than the H-Fac 7750 version. Don't know if a gen crown would fit as stem may be different on the st19. If someone who knows if the stem is the same as a 7750 chime in?.

I have the A7740-version and indeed your tune sticks out a bit more. I have no further info so signing of again lol!

Sorry I don’t think anybody knows the name of the factory, there were two different versions, the H-Fac version with 7753 and this unknown factory version with the st19.
If you have a read of Ales Pam guide it will tell you a bit more.

I’d never noticed the tube was slightly longer than gen, kind of matches the pushers.
Just looking at several of my Radiomirs, and they all vary in length. I shan’t be checking this with their equivalent gens though, lest it spoils any joy of them

It does not cut the pleasure of this watch no, I really enjoy it, the tube is just the detail I was wonderings about.

No need. Panerai has been infamous (notorious?) for inconsistencies in their watches. Just an example. PAM183, the left is from paneraisource and the right is from bobswatches. The tube length also varies.

It does not cut the pleasure of this watch no, I really enjoy it, the tube is just the detail I was wonderings about.

And by curiosity, what about a gen tube+crown swap then? Possible thing? (starting to franken my keepers becomes a persistant idea to me ).
