Panerai 253 Eyecandy - Invisable Crystal Courtesy of K2222

Is is not obvious why this is one of my favorite watches? I really missed wearing my 253 while the crystal was away on it's journey to Poland for double AR. Unlike the sapphire crystals the Jakub usually coats, this one is mineral. Due to some really complicated chemical reaction that I am not about to try to understand, the mineral ends up with a light rose colored tint rather than the typical light blue. Unfortunately, I am not able to make it show up in the photos, but it looks fantastic. I have two of the three crystals I sent back, and it has been a MAJOR improvement for both of them. It's like I'm a noob again, because I keep catching myself staring into the dials.

So, what do you think?

I believe there is a version of the 253 that has sapphire, but mine is mineral. I think the sapphire 253 is also the one that has the correct thicker font, but I could be wrong. The downside of the sapphire/thicker font version is that it is older and has the 21,600bph A7750.

The PAM253 and the PAM212 are two of my all-time favorites! It's a shame that more wasn't done to improve upon on them by the rep makers...

I really like your PAM253...Makes me want to start looking for another one!

The way I understand it, this particular crystal's stock AR is actually a chemical treatment on the inside of the crystal. Whoever told me this may be completely full of shit, but I can tell you that the stock AR was really weak to almost non-existent.

K2222 strips any AR that is already on the crystal before he has them coated, so I never concerned myself with it. :wink:

I have the exact watch. My only problem, JB, is the lack of AR. Your's looks great.
