Panerai 082 on big chief strap pics and Modding question.

This is my favorite Panerai. I know theres flaws but i wold like to fix some of them. Is there anyone that is doing mod work on this model? Also theres supposed to be 3 different version of this watch from DSN. Mine is with a swiss movement. Can anyone tell me what the different models are? I have it mounted on a nice big chief strap i bought it from platnum on here. He sold it to me as a lizard but i compare it to my Kain ostich leg strap and looks the same. Thanku all.

There have been three PAM 082 models from Davidsen. They were released in 2008, 2011 and 2012. You have the 2008 version basing on the font on the dial and the fact that your watch has a Swiss movement (the 2011 and 2012 versions were only available with Asian 6497 movements as standard). The caseback would be wrong as well as the engraving looks to be negative on the first version (instead of the ship being raised it was engraved for example). It did have more or less the right size of the logo and the font (the newer ones, while better engraved, were a bit smaller compared to gen).

At a minimum, I would suggest buying the newest 082 dial and hands from DSN and replacing them on your rep. Or just buy the newest PAM 082 as the case is also better on the newer reps. I am not sure of the accuracy on the color of the dial as it seems to brushed vertically on the gen and I don't see it on the rep pics. It's a first class rep at least.

I just spoke to DSN. He offered to exchange my watch without my Swiss movement and put my Swiss movement on the new version for 130 buxx. Is that worth doing? Is the dial on mine better than the new version?

The font on the 2008 dial is wrong, too thin and spacing is incorrect. The "O" is also rounded instead of oval in the gen (though yours seems to be oval in the first pic, can you confirm?). The 2011 looks to be better but that may be because the 2012 looks thicker due to the camera (L SWISS L is blurred so the thickness may just be camera shake).

So DSN offered to put the Swiss movement on the new caseset, dial and caseback for 130$ plus your old caseset, dial and caseback? Not sure if I got that correctly.
