PAM569 bezel alignment

Hey guys!

Recently got the 569 off m2m and the bezel alignment is slightly irking me.

The pearl would not sit straight over the 12 o clock double baton markers, preferring to rest somewhere to the right.

Wondering if this is a common issue with this particular ST2555 model and most importantly, is there anything we can do to correct it.

It has nothing to do with the movement as that is a bezel mechanical issue. I've read an article somewhere on how to fix it but I can't remember where.

The bezel is just a cap - you can remove it with a knife and push back right way. Just protect edges with a tape...

Is this true for all Pam reps? I have a noob 243 whose pearl is not perfectly aligned either. Can I just remove the bezel with a knife and push it back in correctly aligned? Thanks

It's a common issue with submersible reps. I tried the knife approach myself and failed. Glue may be involved as well, depending on the maker and model.

I've done it on my 569. Those bezels are pressure fitted so they are pretty tough to get off. I usually use two knives and worknit from either side.

I'm now curious!

I have this pre-conception that the case and bezel has some sort of notch or machined slots for each of the 60 clicks somehow....

IF its as easy as popping it out and re-assembling it... I... might try, but...

Videos or pictures should help greatly.

I just can't find any

If the construction is like the PAM382 I saw, then indeed there are notches on the bezel, 60 of them in fact. The click is induced by a wire that is wound around the case beneath the bezel. The bezel is easier to pop off than getting it back on because of that wire (but the same wire can also pop out and go flying since it is wound around the case like a loaded spring so be careful).

It is just that simple! The bezel is only pressure fitted around a steel ring that contains the clicking mechanism.

I taped off the case area directly underneath the bezel (so you don't scratch it while removing the bezel), then got some thin knives and started working the bezel up. I put a knife on opposite edges, but that doesn't need to be done. Your "lifting device" (weather its a knife or razor blade) will have to be thin to start off. The gap between the bezel and case is very small....at least on my 569.

Just go slow and don't scratch anything.

Was there a wire underneath the bezel or is the click mechanism on this different?

The bezel mechanism was still mounted on the case - what you can pop up is just a cap snapped on real bezel underneath.

Correct!

You only remove the bezel cap, not the clicking mechanism. Just need a small edge to pry it up.
