Hi,

looking to buy the PAM372 but i am a bit scared of the plexi. I never had a watch with plexi crystal and would like to know if there is a way to purchase a sapphire crystal and swap out the plexi if i ever want to?
(alternative: does the clone-rep come with a spare plexi like to originals do?)

thanks,
john

Wait.....so you're saying the rep does NOT come with the extra plexi and the dive strap and buckle like the gen??????? Atleast the rep comes with box and papers and gen movement....right?

i am not expecting for the rep to come with a spare crystal - i realize that factories want to maximize their profit even thought a spare plexi would be nice and not add to their cost to much.

However, this was not my real question. My question was if i would be able to - lets say - get a 422 case and change its sapphire crystal for the plexi in the 372.

My second question would be if someone made any experience with buying a replacement rep plexi for 372.

Just get a 372 and enjoy the plexi, it's great the way it is. 372 being a tribute to the historic 6152/1 must have plexi and not sapphire. And don't be scared of tiny scratches it might get in time. They all add to the beauty of 372.

I've read threads on other fora where people were searching to install sapphire crystal on their gen 372. To me this is just a not good idea.

Embrace the plexi. Plexi is sexy. Get a tube of polywatch to buff out scratches if you need to.

I was deathly afraid of getting a watch with a plexi crystal for the longest time. I got my 372sc and fell in love with it. there are some scratches here and there (mild scuffs really) but all that does is add to the beauty of the watch. Anything too bad and I can polish it out. As for a replacement plexi, It wouldn't be hard to get a plexi for it.....may not be the same exact plexi but you'd be able to replace it. I now have 8 watches with plexis on them (1 vintage Rolex 5517 build, 1 vostok russian diver watch, and the rest are vintage panerai builds (6154s, 6152s...etc)

Go for it, get the 372 and enjoy. If you are dead set on a sapphire, you are better off with a 127.

thanks for your help!

other than the bigger chance for scratches, are there any significant differences of the plexi? is it also anti reflective coated? (or is it not even necessary there?)

I am tempted to pull the trigger on the 372sc - only reason i was hesitating so far (besides the plexi concerns) is that i was hoping some of the flaws would get corrected soon - does not seem that way thought as they have not changed much with the sc2 version.

I have the 1st 372sc. It is wonderful! No AR on the plexi. Its not needed. But it really helps the watch stand out. adds a certain amount of warmth to the dial when looking at it.

Hi johnsx

I'm not trying to be rude, as always
But you are a bit lost and you need talking to you clearly

PAM 372 is WITH Plexy crystal because it is following this feature of an historic model. If you like a PAM 372 you have to get it with a Plexi or it will not be a 372.
It would be the same as getting a PAM 127 and removing the Crown guard because you don't like this device or changing the crystal to a flat crystal because you don't like the domed.
On the other hand, why are you worried about new versions more accurate and most likely more expensive if you are willing to accept a completely different crystal?
That doesn't make sense my friend

That said, replicas of PAM 372 rep are reps in evolution at this moment
There is no perfect version, Noob is the best one from the front and in the wrist, Clone2 is the best from the back, but there is not a decisive version

The Plexi on the new 449 are way better than the 372 but it is still good either way you can scratch both actually the Plexi is easier to fix poly and a good rub possibly tug and you get a happy ending

Yep, the new plexis are much harder and also clearer.

I have both, they don't look like they could be swapped in, but a new version of a 372 is coming, so we should see a better plexi on that one.

I'm with you. I love the look of a sapphire on a pam. The 422 is one of my favorite watches of all time. I wish they had a super rep version. I would love a 372 with a sapphire crystal.

Uhmmm ive just purchased a Gen 372 and the reason this watch stands out is because of the PLEXI! it just adds a certain sexiness to it.. You want Sapphire then get a 422.. tried that on too.. was drawn to the 372 more..
