Pam372 Rep to Gen Dial swap

A Gen Dial came up which I'm 90% going to buy. I am curious to those who have swapped the Gen hands into the Rep CP and fitment issues ? I know the CP has to be flattened a bit to match it up to Gen but what about the width? Will the minute hand fit width wise or will the diameter have to me taken in just a bit?

Take pictures!

Oh I will. Don't you worry. [emoji16]

My Watch Smith needs to get all the info possible before doing this for me. So any help from the few who have would be appreciated.

We need pictures because you are probably one of the first to do it on a 372! Pretty sure there isn't any info on this, so your watchsmith is going to have to figure it out after the parts are in his hands.
this is because the 372 uses an in house P3000 movement, so no idea if the gen hands will fit the P3000 superclone movement.

It's been done before and one sold on here 6 months ago M2M. Have yet to hear back from that person after I sent a message.

Correct Cannon Pinion and Hour Wheel is my issue right now.

Many sizes to choose from for the 6497. Just need one to fit the Gen Hands. Hhhhmmm

Maybe an experienced modded can answer this.

I am a modder with some experience, lol. I've done a lot of pam mods for myself and built a few pam frankens as well.

There are two movements used in 372 reps. the 6497 and the P3000 superclone.
If you are going gen dial and hands then IMO you should seriously consider the P3000 superclone movement, it looks much better than the 6497 with decorative plates to make it look like the P3000.
Using a gen dial is easy, but gen hands, I don't think anyone has done yet. I don't think there is any info on the specs of the gen hands, and I don't think anyone has detailed the size of the pins on the P3000 superclone yet.

There are different CP and hour wheels for the 6497, but from my understanding the differences are jtheir height for you to give clearance on thicker dials. They don't have different diameters.
Unless there is a huge difference between the hand and pin sizes, it shouldn't be too hard to mod the gen hands to fit.

I'm using TapaTalk right now so I can't see if you are a modder or not. Sorry about that.

Diameter is the trouble I am having. I do not care for the P3000 super clone as I have a solid Caseback.

I guess I'll have to ask my watch smith. Even ETA CP is hard to tell from pics. Might have to buy all the sizes and test them out. If they don't work then carefully shaving it down is next option.

sorry, I mean I do mods myself, not an official modder on the forum, sorry about the confusion.
I was just trying to help since I have worked with 6497 movements a lot. The easiest way is just to get them to your watchsmith and he should be able to work something out. Its highly unlikey they will fit without some modding, but hopefully the diameter of the holes in the hands are too small for the CP and hour wheel, meaning the CP and hour wheel will just need to be carefully shaved or sanded down to correct size. if too big then some material will need to be added to widen the CP and hour wheel.

hope it goes, well, and some pics of the process would be good as well!

Superclone is a nice movement closer to Gen look. I have a franken 448 with the superclone

I have not seen a build using the gen hands. But if you can get the handset seller to measure the gen for you, it'll be a good starting point as to what MVT might be a good starting point. The SC movement had faux caps pressed into the hands and those sit on a very small CP. The 6497 is a full CP.

Or you could also just go with a gen dial and relumed(if needed) rep hands, as they are already nice.

I feel like the rep hands are too rose gold. The gen looks more brass. Idk. Gotta figure this out if it's worth it. Lol.

CPs on Super Clone P 3000: 90/150. Thus: Large issues with fitting gen hands.... but solvable, if you are clever ;-) You will also have to modify the main plate of the Super Clone P 3000 to fit the gen dial, as the gen dial has larger diameter dial feet, but luckily the dial feet holes on the Super Clone P 3000 are in exactly the right position.

No problem. Overall, the rep dial is very nice, with a thick 3 piece construction, with good lume. The gen is thinner. The only thing you really gain by substituting a gen 372 dial is a lighter color, more sharply engraved print, and thinner, better shaped indices/numbers. That rep dial is nice.

Wow, if the factories ever decide to redo the PAM372, those details on the dial differences with the use of the latest P.3000 superclone movement would probably take the PAM372 into super rep level category. :D

He He, they also need to rework the case a bit though, to make it closer to gen. Hopefully one day a factory will rise up to this challenge. 372 could be potentially as popular a seller as 127 and 111.

Indeed, the flatter case on the PAM372 makes it a nice 47mm alternative to the fiddy.

Thanks @slaughterer62 for this nice comparison
Comparison pics side by side with the gen are always welcome
Seeing the pics i think there is a "small" road to be covered by the rep
