Received this 308 Regatta from Time4Direct. I am in CONUS. Ordered October 18, received watch on October 22. For $130, I think the quality is great for the price. Thanks T4D! Pics are from my iphone4, not the best, but in this case, it is the fault of the photographer, not the camera.

Wowzas, that's some bang for the buck. Is the dlc finish on the case more matte or gloss like the bezel?

There are so many things wrong with that 308, but I have to admit it looks great in black, and at $130 you gotta love it :)

This is pretty cool!

Is there one with a solid caseback also?

Hey Drulee,

Whats wrong about that 308?

Where to start .... :D

The gen 308 was a manual wind chronograph with solid Limited Edition caseback.

It was not a PVD case, but brushed stainless steel finish.

Since it had not date, it did not have date pusher on the side of the case :D

The centre chrono seconds hand and right sub-dial hand were painted LIGHT Blue just like the beginning few seconds area in that right sub-dial.

Those are the obvious faults :)

But it definitely looks great in PVD :)

The Dr has spoken :)

It's definitely a fantasy but a nice one at that. Maybe in light of no PAM332 rep after it's appearence on "The expendables". Our friends in the factory decided to take the easy road and make a fantasy of this. And infact the "more accurate rep" has enough of it's own flaws too.

At the price point I think it will make for a great beater.

Yes, it certainly does. But the good thing with these "Limited Edition" PAMs, is that even fewer will know those flaws. It's a small group to start with :D Plus it has that wonderful 'bullet-proof' (only Chinese bullets though) SeaGull ST19 manual wind chronograph movement.

I love my flawed 308, so much that I had to send it to Francisco to get the correct blue hands done and reluming. However it met with an 'accident' while in Spain (damned Chinese factory workers), so I bought another one in the U.K. and got it shipped to Francisco 'pronto' :)

Wow Drulee, you have incredible knowledge of this brand. Thanks for the pics and info. I do like the blue hands on the gen. The second hand and 3 o'clock subdial on my rep have blue hands, but they are a different shade, and go from black to blue depending on the light reflection.

I sort of decided that for now, I am not going to focus too much on accuracy of the rep, and instead just buy what looks good to me. Some of the reps I have on the way are pure fantasy reps, others are closer to the gen. I suspect I will get to a point where accuracy is more important, but right now, I am just having fun buying a bunch of reps in the $120-$220 range.

I work in an industry where you would think people would be more knowledgeable about watches, but barely anyone even knows of the Panerai brand. They only really know Rolex and Omega. I never try to pass off my reps as gens, but my co-workers would never know if I did not tell them.

I definitely agree. The watch should be for you more than it is for others to see you wear it. Wear your fantasy or gen in pride by the fact that it looks great.

I considered this watch myself, and watching the Expendables helped pursue it even more. Noticing the flaws people pointed out from the gen while doing research made me reconsider if I should get it, but more importantly I tried to take a different approach and summarize what I love in all these different PAM watches. In the end my list pointed to a PAM 317 and I am loving it, even though it is not 100% (let alone) accurate to a gen. For just a little over $100, I think I won this round. Go with what you like, that is all.
[not trying to thread jack, but I wanted to share my experiences as well]

Good for you guys! A lot of fantasy models IMO look much better than their gen counterpart. My favourite watch of all time was a fantasy which I regret selling, was an FULL polished ceramic IWC TP with white dial. Absolutely fantastic.

Hello Operator- that is a fantastic looking watch! It really 'pops' with the brown strap. Where did you get it?

Kutio- My thoughts exactly. Sometimes (but not always) the fantasy looks better than the gen, and sometimes the cheaper rep looks better than the more expensive rep. For example, I just ordered an Ingenieur and the bezel on the cheaper rep looked better to me than the bezel on the more expensive rep, even though the bezel on the expensive rep looked closer to the gen.

Thanks, I ordered it from -I think his name is- strap.master on eBay (normally I wouldn't suggest eBay as a source). I still need to look for a 24mm black/pvd buckle if anyone wants to part with one.

I've yet to have meet anyone who knew of Panarai, let alone call me out on authenticity but I am not associated with that type of crowd. But I do enjoy a nice watch :)
