Hi guys,

After getting my first rep, namely Fiddy 127, I think it is time to step up my game. The reason is because my rep was $70, and it had horrible blue AR, weak lume(2-3mins tops), horrible strap etc. etc. Instead of modding it I decided to go for a new one - the almighty Pam288k from Lay. I have a few questions however, and I will ask Lay as well, but I appreciate forum discussions rather more, and you are a trustworthy source. Anyway, here we go:

1. How good is the lume? It says its C3 SLN but I wonder how long it glows for after a charge?
2. What is the standard strap on and how is the $120 croc strap- i mean is it worthy it or should I get a croc from somewhere else?
3 How big are the straps with the deployant buckle? I consider my wrist average but I do not have a way to measure it, so once I know the size I could decide.
4. Does the movement (7750) need servicing immediately?
5. Is the crown not screwing in a universal issue or a model to model one?

Thank you guys,
and sorry for getting carried away :)

I love the lume on my 288. Not as strong as a sandwich dial (how could it be) but definitely as good as gen from what I've been told.

I think the croc is nice but it tapers a bit too much and is a no go if your wrist is any bigger than 7 inches. Use a ruler.

Movement seems to be good. My crown screws all the way down - check it on the QC

Take a strip of paper, wrap it around your wrist and mark where the free end overlaps the rest of the strip. Lay that paper flat and measure.

Viola! You now know how big your wrist is.

I would *assume* the strap is the standard length, which is 115mm x 75mm.

It tapers from 27mm at the lug end to 22mm at the buckle, just like gen Radiomir straps. If you're after a good quality gator in the standard gen size, $120 is probably worth it. I haven't seen the strap in person, though, so take that with a grain of salt.

I'm going aftermarket, non-gator for my 288.

the regular strap on a 7.5" wrist wont even leave enough tail to get to the 2nd keeper...
its pretty short

Thanks for the replies guys, I measured my wrist and its 7 inches. So, I think that the croc strap with d. buckle would fit nicely? I would appreciate if someone quickly confirms that, so I can get this beauty from Lay straight away :)

Thanks

I ordered the stock croc grain leather strap, and tbh its actually a very good rep strap, nice grain, and padding isn't too bad, but i always had the intention of getting a custom made croc, which i ordered from Orloff.
I received it the other day, but the short end is just too short so he's having to make me another one. Now the quality is excellent, great croc pattern, and it is very very soft and supple. $120 will buy you a great custom croc strap made for you, and i do recon there will be a few available for sale soon in all the forums as the upgrade option is quite small for alot of pam owners.

Lume is really something else, defo nothing i've ever had before in a rep, charges very quick and lasts for ages.

My wrist is about 6 3/4 and I think it fits me fine, comfortable to wear.

Btw i forgot to add, my crown did not fully screw in when i 1st received it, but it does now fully screw in, which could have been the o-ring not properly sitted..

I must agree, lume is great ... and lasts
Strap is very personal, i got the 'gen' croc with my 288, but took it off, I prefer aftermarket and ordered a caitlin3 from PeterGunny, and curently it's on a strap from toshi ...
AR on this watch is excellent as well, nice and colourless, real gen like :)
Crown not screwing in is not to big of an issue, and it seems to get better after screwing it in a few times ...

Overall a superb watch, you won't regret ordering it if you like the looks of a radiomir chrono, this is the one to get ;)

About the 7750, I'm planning to wear the 288 for a while, because IMHO the movement could do with some TLC from Domi ( but not necessary straight away )

Thanks guys,

I decided to get it as it is and go for an aftermarket strap afterwards. I just went on to buy it however and I was charged $900 for a flat rate delivery?!?!?!?!?

Have you ever had that problem with Lay?

I have notified him ofc, but was wondering if it's a common issue.

Thanks
