hey guys, just received my 222 from EL, outstanding watch, i must say!

case shape - chunky! the bezel is thicker than a historic model, similar to a daylight. it has the date button at 8'.

case finish - impeccable! the brushed finish is amazing! nice and even.

crystal - saphire, non ar-coated. 6mm cyclops over the date window. additional cyclops over the date window on the movement.

crown - standard 2mm crown with 45 degree bevel..looks alright...

movement - asian automatic. looks great, works great and feels great!

dial - absolutely gorgeous! great lume on the hands and the round markers, not so great lume on the 12 and 6..but that doesn't bother me...

case back - WOW! the engraving is nice and crisp. the finishing is brushed with a very nice lusture to it.

overall - great watch for a reasonable price provided that the asian auto doesn't fail me..hey, at least i can say my watch has an inhouse movement!! :) the date button at 8 doesn't bother me cause it's integrated flawlessly into the case design. it's not as if there's a huge button sticking out of the case or a big gaping hole at the side of the case for u to insert a toothpick to change the date..who cares if the original doesn't have that button? there're 500 genuines and 20 reps, who will even bother?! the watch is thick and chunky, wears similar to a daylight/submersible but looks as classy as a 177..

wonder who are the other 19 who bought the watch.. :)

Regardless of how good the watch looks, the movement is important too.

Without it being working properly, the watch is merely a pretty paper weight.

totally agree...but EL takes care of his customers in the event the watch(movement/case) becomes defunct..

on the other hand, i wouldn't wear a 7733 or lemania 5100 powered watch if it looks like crap or doesn't reflect my personality...

Agreed.

That is why we sometimes have to find some sort of equilibrilium.

Hey Adrian, I am one of the lucky 20. It is a beautiful watch isn't it. I have mine on a XaMas Tan, and it looks kick ass. Will be posting pics soon. It is a replacement one from EL, and this one seems to be working perfectly. It looks so nice on a extra thick strap!!!

I'm glad that some of you seem to be happy with your purchase. Unfortunately, I apparently received the defective model. The power reserve hand moves too far down, past where the 40 hour indicator should be. I say "where the 40 hour indicator should be" because the factory forgot to apply the white power reserve indicator markers; all I have is the three lumed yellowish lines. The lume on the hour markers looks like a child put it on (that's actually probably close to the truth); on some markers the lume actually spills over the side of the metal circle. In short, the watch looks great from about 2-3 feet away, but any closer and it screams fake. Doesn't anyone inspect these things before sending them out?

On top of it all, it's the asian 21j movement rather than the advertised 7750. So, mine is getting a return trip to Taiwan.

Same thing happened to my first 222, the PR indicator overshot the 40. But the replacement I got was perfect. The dial was ok on my first one though. No Lume problems. Hope all works out well for you.

my lume markers look fine and the PR indicator stops at the numerical 40, no the 40 line..but that's alright with me.

the watch lost 15minutes over 8+ hours...wil have to monitor it for the next few days...let's hope that it can be regulated...

Eddy - i have it on a toscana aged vintage cuoio.. :) the xmas is too expensive for me, it costs more than the watch!

I got my XaMas for 150$ off of the P*** site. Once in awhile you can find very good bargains there. Also got a MP8 for 100$.

That sounds like a broken watch. No matter how much you like it, it is broken. Losing 2 min an hour is a clear sign that something is very wrong. I don't think monitoring will do anything more than confirming that it is in fact as useful to tell time as a sun clock. Return it if you can.

mechanical watch movements do need time to settle in..seiko's 7s26 movements typically loose quite a lot of time when new but quickly settles to a deviation of less than 20s a day..so it's not very correct to say that the movement is broken..so far the movement is loosing time consistently, so it might just be a matter of adjusting the watch..

i will consider a movement to be broken when 1-stops working all together 2-gains and loses time randomly 3-decides to go anticlockwise ;)

I don't know where you get the info that Seikos LOSE time when new. Seiko always errs on + side. This is almost a fact. And you are saying they are ususally delivered worse than -+20Secs per day!? This is not even within Seiko's tolerance, which is +/-15seconds per day!

I am a huge Seiko fan and hang around a few boards. I have 2 seikos. A Japan made Landshark (7S36) and an orange Samurai (7S26). They are +5 and +7 per day, and have been like that for months. They may settle maybe +- 2 sec. over the next years :)

Your watch needs to see a watchmaker, but I see that you do not believe me as you accept as normal a watch losing 45 mins a day. Oh well, I tried :)

hehe..oops, wrong info on my part, i meant deviation of 20s..that was what i read, been a looong time since i've been on the scwf..was a seiko fan too! i've had a 171, 007, BM, black ti samurai, vintage helmut "flightmaster"..the 171 and ti sammie were +/-25 when i bought them and they settled to +7 and +10 dial up..the 007 is dead accurate at +2/-1..now i'm only left with the 171 and BM.. u've got pm!

must be a misunderstanding..it's not that i do not trust you or think that a watch loosing 45min a day is normal..i just want to let it settle in a bit, monitor it for a few more days and decide the next step..if it's simple regulation i can def do it myself..
