Hello Gens,

wanted to compare PAM217 as well V6 vs ZF vs GEN as there are similar pictures to look at.

Both models V6 and ZF are really great, but which one is better for you, you have to decide. Just wanted to make some points where to look at.
In any case, both versions has many faults but without gen piece next to them, you won't figure out that it's a rep. But ofcourse there are some clear flaws that you can see quickly.

DIAL:

- For me lume shot it's a bit closer to gen on V6 than ZF (ZF has more greenish)
- all prints and numerals are great on both just PANERAI print are in wrong height on both models
- CP is better on V6 as it's polished, on gen you can say it's not polished but there are other pics that you can see clearly it is.

BACKSIDE:
- the most visible difference is little horns on balance wheel. On V6 and ZF they are in wrong position like on straight in gen piece.
- OFFICINE PANERAI letters are too bold on both
- Screw is better on V6 as it's flat
- Case shape are wrong on both reps. Gen is more curved and better finished.

BUCKLES:

- PANERAI word are in wrong height on both models and engravings are better in ZF but it's hard to say,it can be lightning

CROWN GUARD:
- Lever finish is better on V6
- From first point of view it can be that on reps CG is bigger than on gen. Spacing is clearly visible between crown and CG. Gen has less space.
- REG. engravings are in wrong position on both reps

PROFILE VIEW:
- well this is bad, because rep cases are thicker than gen. It could be the same on PAM127 V6 and ZF.
- Pillow shape is also different,so case needs reshape.
- lug bar hole is better placed on ZF

The choice is yours.
Thanks

Hmm... most of observations are good but IMHO it is difficult to compare dials/sapphires from photos since photos were taken with various optical gears and distances - this way optical distortion is just different on every photo. Things like comparing lume color is totally out of question in this regard - cameras' logic did their jobs and "corrected" colors...

"horns" on balance wheel are individual settings per movement (state of correct regulation). Here are gens with "horns" set similar way to rep:

The rest of observation, like shape of case set, engravings on buckle - great eye :)

Anyway, I found another mistake, just "let's omit this detail" from the makers:

Another great comparison, it makes it a lot easier to see what's different in each version.
It's clear there's always something to learn :)
BTW if you need pics of a noob, I can try my best to shoot some at the same angles shown here, but it will take me a few days 'cause I'm currently on holidays.

Let me add some observations in.mixed order:

Case:

From the side view ZF case looks better (mostly in the upper part), from the frontal view though V6 seems more accurate to me (although the bezel should not touch the edge of the case @6 and @12).

CG:

I too.had the impression that it was too big, anyway I prefer v6 finish (chamfers and engravings), but ZF lever tip looks way better.
CG pin is better placed in ZF, but it looks too small.

Crown:

V6 crown is better, in the inner part (closer to the case) the teeth chamfering is more definite.

Crown tube:

v6 is almost spot on, ZF is too thin.
Interesting case detail in the crown area found by Polonus.

Case back:

V6 is thicker, again more accurate.

Lugs:

ZF are too fat, but more accurate nonetheless. V6f lugs have too much space between top of the lug and top of the case where they join the case.
