Received a nice PAM183g the other day, however it had the wrong type of movement in it, I actuually bought the watch for its movement as it had a Swiss 6497-1 with deco plates suitable for my 055c build that I’m doing with a beautiful Rolli dial.

Anyway I'm also lucky enough to have a Marlin 127 on its way to me so I decided to steal the movement from my Noob 127 and transplant it into this. Now I’m certainly not experienced with doing any tinkering with watches but I have been messing around with the odd bit here and there.

So so I stole the movement from the 127 took the existing out of the 183, polished the crown wheel and ratchet wheel edges and CP whilst it was out and proceeded to swap it over. To be honest I didn’t find it overly difficult, it just requires a modicum of patience and a steady hand.

Here it it is now in the 183g, so has correct movement and all the improvements that Noob made to this movement recently (plus polished wheel bevels!). The only thing I could do is brush the pallet fork bridge and swan neck mod, however it’s not too bad and I’m not too bothered about buying some nickel plating kit. Maybe in the future after a bit of practice on some junk movements?.

Id like to learn how to brush the gear train like marlin does, anyone any ideas?, I had a play with some junk parts... it just removed all the brass plating, so im guessing the wheels are brushed (removing the plating and then re coated in brass? or am I wrong?.

I have not seen anyone other than modders do such improvements. That's why people pay them the money to do it, it's a proprietary process. I doubt they'd share the technique with others openly.
