PAM111 stuck in winding mode [GEN]

I have a PAM111 and its been a great experience, and is easily my favourite watch. Its the watch i've always wanted as a gen.

This morning though after a few weeks of not wearing it as I was away on vacation i wound it up (only about 12/13 winds not even close to max) then pulled out the crown to set it.

When closing the crown guard the crown popped back in but wouldnt go back into winding mode, and it pulls in and out without any click/resistance.

I'm so heartbroken here, this is my favourite watch.

The movement has never skipped a beat, and I've never banged, dropped, scuffed the watch.

I'm hoping this is something as simple as a screw that holds the crown in wasnt tight enough. The movement was moving fine after this issue with the crown.

Thanks for any help.

Its under warranty until from Panerai 12-2017 but im not sure if this would be covered?

The answer is very simple, if it's covered under warranty it goes back to your AD and they are responsible to have it fixed. If it's grey market piece, then the dealer whom you acquired it from will have it fixed (all grey market dealers are different and this assumes you have it registered and your warranty activated with them).

Use the warranty. Unless it's a grey market piece (and it sounds like it isn't), Panerai should honor it. Don't bring it to an independent watchmaker just yet.

I agree, take it to the AD to at least see if it is covered. Then once you get it fixed, sell it and buy reps of it!

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if this was a warranty type thing. I'm the second owner of the watch and I bought it from a place that has a proper store. I suppose I will contact panerai before I go anywhere else to get them to fix it.

Thanks for the tips.

I contacted the person I bought it from and he said my options are to send it to him for his watchmaker to fix or send it to Panerai. He mentioned that if sending to him the turnaround time would be much quicker.

Which would you go for?

Is the warranty in your name or is it still with the person you bought it from?

I purchased it from a store who gave me a 1 year warranty, along with the remainder of the panerai warranty which had just under a year left on it. The Panerai warranty is from the previous owner, but I don't think panerai care about who has the watch if it is still under warranty.

If Panerai will still honor the warranty I'd use that first since the warranty is about to lapse.

You are correct. I went to a AD with a second hand pam111 which still was under warranty. No questions asked.

Thanks for all the help guys. Suppose I'll have to make a trip into the city to find an AD. Will report back on the process and how it goes!
