PAM090 - Advice

Hi Guys,

Since i had great results on the advice yesterday with the PAM088, i figured i would ask about this one as well.

After reading the review guide, i know there are old Pam090's with 21J movement and working power reserve, and then there are new Super-Rep Pam090's with faux power reserve.

I have the 21J version. So I love the watch, but i recently got a chance to compare it to the gen and it is night and day differences. I have read enough to understand that there is no way to have a good movement and working power reserve, however i had a different thought. Perhaps if I change the case to get rid of the 8oclock date pusher, it would look a little better. Also the hands do seem a bit flimsy/cheap and as always with the older models the clasp on the crown guard is quite loose when opened.

Reaching out to the pam team for your support and advice. I would like to keep the functioning power reserve, any thoughts if this is a decent idea or if it is not worth the trouble?

Here are the pics (Sorry for crappy iphone quality shots):

You can buy a better case but how will you set the date without the date pusher?

Get a DSN with a Soprod mov't and be done with this. Was discussed a few days back, search for a post in the PAM section. Other than this, there are no decent options.

I believe i would still be able to adjust the date via the crown. I know there would be no quick adjust so it would be annoying, but still possible.

thanks korneevy, i have seen that post but i thought it was only relevent to the DSN PAM027, i didnt realize it would be possible for that movement to work on the PAM090.

Its the look and functionality of this dial that i really like

The only solution for working Power Reserve and good qulaity watch is getting a ETA Soprod modified movement. But this movement costs almost three times your complete watch. It is no worth spend such a money in such a replica (sorry). Besides the movement surely doesn't fit the watch in a whole.

You have DSN Power Reserve PAMS 027-028 and 057 all them awesome watches.

Stick with the 090. If you like second@9 and the offset PR then the 27,28,57 won't be what you want.
I suggest you get one of the newer A7750 versions ASAP because I reckon they will soon be unavailable and won't be replaced. These look to be high quality great date wheel and mag and a better movement. I think you'll be impressed by the upgrade in quality from your version. These have no date pusher but the downside is the PR is faux. I say go for the 090 get what you like not what others reckon you should

Thanks for the advice Ale. The Pam027 is a possibility, but i am not a fan of the other two. I was really just trying to find out if i could get a new case and possibly new set of hands (Better quality?) for my 21J working PR movement. would this be possible? From what i have read, everyone seems to frown upon this movement but it has been ok so far, I have had it for about a year.

But that 027 might be a possibility if all else fails. I will keep doing some research on this watch to see if it would suit me.

Thanks stromtrooper, while it is definitely tempting to get the new version, for some reason i am just not drawn to this watch. Something about the PR being fixed/faux is keeping me away from pulling the trigger on it. Ahh decisions decisions, i guess i will have to keep looking and keep an open mind for other models.
