PAM040 - the endgame pam for me

After a few years of collecting, I believe I have tried out as many references as possible and I have narrowed down my preference to:

• Titanium luminor case
• Black dial
• Tritium indices

Initially I thought such reference was a fantasy so I resorted for a 036


Until I saw a dsn 040 on m2m, which I missed, then I started thinking about options:

1. Case:
   I have a spare H-Fac 177 case, since I don’t have the hands and movement, I got a HWF 177 instead
2. Dial:

Belkin will be the go-to choice, but he’s unable to do sausage lume to I bought a ‘blank’ dial from him, then @goin6633 did his magic

1. The rest:

Originally I planned to gut the HWF177 and put everything into the H-Fac case, but since the crown is not compatible for I gave up

I added the H-Fac CG because why not

et voila, probably the last panerai for me [maybe a 055 later?]

@pf78 Bravo! Wonderful builds! Goin did an amazing job with the sausage lume. Its a very difficult task. Exceptional builds! Congratulations!

Something to consider although not necessary:
-On the gen 36 and gen 40 the hands seem to be modern style (i.e. non preV). Similar to what @ward1991 has on his. Its a small detail but not many will notice this aspect.
-You can always reach out to Sead for Series A-F titanium CGs. It has the correct profile and no roller ball.

I don't believe there is an endgame for you but you did great for the 040. The faux tritium is very well done !

Do you know of any 2-liner 44mm Luminor, titanium case with T-Swiss-T dial ? That would be my perfect one.

I like the 055 / 166 dial better with the 2-liner and 3/6/9. The down side is both are L-Swiss-L. Perhaps one day, I should build a fantasy 055/166 with T-Swiss-T......I suppose there are so many permutations of PAM dials that nobody really knows if it is a fantasy !

@pf78 I recently received the helenarou hands which I installed on my pam55. I will get it relumed at some point so it matches the lume on the dial as the hands lume are a bit too white.

Here is a pic with helenarou modern hands. Please note i had to file the minute hand tube down a bit so that cannon pinion was flush.



I also ordered some hands from aliexpress. Will let you know how they are once they arrive.

I believe the closest match will be 036/040, which are the only one with luminor Ti case with T-Swiss-T dial

Wow beautiful 040!
I love the Ti texture but prefer more substantial watches (in terms of weight). Have you ever thought of a 360? More or less a 40 but with PVD case and logo on dial.
