PAM028A Power Reserve from DSN

I am gonna mod this watch quite a bit. Currently the glass is off for AR coating (I know it's not gonna be like gen :p) and I put on a 2.2mm generic PAM Luminor glass. Glad that it fits.

Next step would be to remove the standard coating via sandblasting process. Crown guard is really wrong on the model so I am going to put a normal 111h CG from the cartel which I think very accurate to A/B series PAM. Pin of course has to be flattened and tightened later on. Crown is really terrible. Probably I am going to DLC a T48 spring loaded or even current cartel 111h crown will fit nicely in there.

Our 2892/93 datewheel is gonna be ready in 2 weeks or so and it's definitely be right up there, in time after our DLC coating run.

I am quite satisfied on how the vintage lume colour from DSN so I am going to leave it as it is. The strap, I will stick to Gunny Caitlin 1 A009. Probably will order a thinner strap from him. 5mm is too thick for this model, will go with 3mm strap.

Stay tune for pictorial updates along the way.

Anyway, a question to Panerai expert here. Is the power reserve indicator at the correct position? When I took the picture, it is in fully wound position. Should it be more toward the middle/end of 40 on the dial?

Looks cool.
So it currently has a PVD finish and you are going to DLC it?

Yes, the PVD will be removed. I have tried fitting it to a spare SS 6497 case but the crown tube position is different. So I have to start with this case.

I wish the caseback engraving can be better. The pit on mine is pretty rough in terms of finishing.

I just love that vintage coloured numbers and hands with the black face and the black case..... Beautiful! Please keep us posted as the project progresses.

......funny thing but the B&R Heritage appears to use the same colour. I wonder which was first. Seems to be the colour-de-jour, and I like it a whole lot.

Do you have a lineup for DLC cases and crown guards?

Very nice piece, thank you for posting! I believe the PR wound up should be in the middle or slightly 3/4 in my experience. However, I've also had a 27A that went the whole way; anybody else with the same experience?

Just as a test. Currently I am testing how long does the power reserve really last from fully wound (like the picture above) to empty. Then I am going to take more pictures :p

As for CG, I have been looking at gen 027A/B,028A/B pictures. I am sticking to my choice of cartel out of box 111h. It comes with very very good CG. Pin has to be flattened first then sandblasted then DLC coated.

I really adore this watch and definitely it is a keeper for me.

As mentioned, the case is not sandblasted ready to be sent out for DLC coating. The CG used will be the one from H series cartel (accurate for this A series). Crown used will be spring loaded T48.

The cyclops on the DSN glass is already correct (6mm). With the new datewheel, I think it looks much better than the stock DW.

The movement comes with the real deal Soprod PR module. And this has cyclop on top of the datewheel already.

hi there,

I am planning to buy pam 028 from dsn.

What suggestion do you have for me for this specific model and dsn's current/latest production update?
I love accuracies when buying rep watch.

You said that this 028 has bad CG. I wonder, can you help me point out how is a bad CG ? I can't seem to really differentiate which is good and which is bad.

Also, how about the accuracy of the black color vs gen ?
