Hi guys,
Just came across this new release.
It has mechanical (!) on demand lume!!
Caption form Paneraicentral insta underneath the images:

This 49mm Blue Ti-Ceramitech case houses a innovation that is over 8 years in the making. The lighting feature on this out of the box concept features 4 patent applications.

It might seem that the on demand light is battery operated but in fact it is all mechanically driven by the movement. 4 of the 6 barrels are dedicated to storing energy for this lighting mechanism. They are precisely engineered to unwind in a microgenerator that converts the mechanical energy into electricity. This custom made generator incorporates no active electronics despite what it looks like.

The energy is channeled to illuminate specially placed LEDs and can provide a continuous light for up to 30 minutes. If you don’t want to use the instant light up feature it still incorporates SuperLuminova X1.

This piece is limited to only 150 pieces worldwide and will be released in batches of 50 per year for the next 3 years.

Spring loaded indiglo? I am not sure this innovation was needed.
Let's see... not the best submwrsible design wise.

I have seen online some first review and reactions to this new PAM.

First of all it's a 150 pcs LE that retails for 110K€ and has 49mm diameter at the bezel. So not really your everyday watch.

What is interesting is the case material that appears to be a new titanium-ceramicised alloy created by a special electrocution process that leaves a caracteristic gray/blue shade on the case.

More puzzling is the innovation in lighting that appears to be simply a LED powered by spring barrlels charged by the rotor. Has a nice linear light power reserve on the dial and last only 30 minutes. The hands and indices also have luminova X2 applied so that you don't really have to press the LED button to know the time when in the dark.
Apparently it is not the first mechanical watch with LED powered by a barrel, but the previous attempt only lasted few seconds...

Someone already call this the Panerai "G-Shock" because of the size the buttons and the LED (illuminator).. lol

Panerai G-Shock. I like it.

Sell that a the price of a premium G-Shock and it will fly off the shelves. But at $100,000, I think I would pass unless I was so ridiculously wealthy that I'd want to wear it as a true diving watch on vacation, accompanied by two bodyguards, of course.

Panerai pricing is comical, they’re becoming less and less relevant.

An innovation no one asked for at a price few can afford.

I'll get two and use them as wrist weights for my nordic walking. The glowing dial and hands will go nicely with my bright green protective vest.

For 90 grand you can get 3 Rolex Submariners, a Grand Seiko, a Toyota Camry, and as many mechanically operated flashlights as you want

This tech is not new.... lmao
