Let me start by saying that Flav was great to deal with. Very professional, very fast and OUTSTANDING work. This watch started life as a 114E from DSN. However, shortly after I bought it, babola helped DSN come out with his new 010D closed caseback. I ordered one and sent the watch off to Flav. I had Flav perform his CG lever mod, flatten/flush the CG lever pin, install the Palp crown and flatten the top of the cannon pin to be more like gen.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.....

Here it is on the fantastic new GeF Valdarno strap in caramel. These straps really have to be seen to be believed, amazing straps.

Look at that cannon pin, crown and CG!

Can you say "flush CG lever pin"?

Since this was a 114E, it came with a polished CG lever, too. So, I had Flav brush finish the lever while it was there and he did a teriffic job. This photo also shows how thick the strap is. It's unbelievably soft for how thick it is! (~5mm)

I would love to meet the person who could call this out as a rep with certainty while on the wrist. It'd be a tough call off the wrist, IMO. I couldn't be happier.

Thanks again, Flav!!!

Hooli,
That is one sweet watch. I'm still on the fence with white faced pams.

It's probably my next purchase after seeing yours.

Damn hooligan, That is nice. I have been considering a white dial Pam but have thus far been successful in resisting. This did not help my resolve. Very nice. Enjoy it.

Hooligan,
What a fine example! I've been staying away from white dial pam for the longest time, but when DSN's 10D came out I took the plunge and never look back. It's really is that nice. Congrats again Hooligan :D

Very nice. Flav did work on the 111F I received from MK08 and he does great work. Is that case discontinued? Babola had mentioned that the lugs on my 111 are elongated, and your watch looks similar in that respect. Great looking watch.

BTW Hooligan I put your strap on my Pam just now, the black looks great. :D

It's DSN case, it comes with more 'correct' elongated lugs than standard rep cases, although the screw holes on DSN are a bit off when compared to gen and standard rep cases...they're 'pushed' in towards the case a bit more. That's why some thick straps (5mm+) won't have enough clearance to move freely on DSN cases. That said - DSN case are awesome, IMO.

cheers,
babola

That looks fantastic. Flav does an amazing job on the crown guards. He's also an all-around great guy to deal with.

Here's my 114g I just got back from flav with essentially the same mods. It's on a Don Tobacco strap...

There are two version of the 114 dial. The one that you and I both have is the more "correct" of the two. (I believe the other incarnation has something weird going on with the "l swiss l") The only *barely noticeable flaw is that the numerals are slightly thinner on the rep...especially on the "6", but this difference is negligible - it's even hard to spot when you compare gen rep side by side....

That is one sweet watch................. (I really want one)

But let me get this straight,

The watch started out as a DSN 114E. that has now been turned into a 010D by changing the back to a closed back case and
doing the additional mods. Did you have to buy the Palp crown or did Flav supply that as part of the upgrade?

How is the lume ? I know traditionally DSN lumes are quite good out of the box ....how does it compare to the gen lume (for colour and intensity).

Either way you've got a nice one there ..... Wear it well...!

Very nice selection.. that one is growing on me even though I don't find many white dials that I like.. with the exception of the gen Omega GMT and the Ball Mad Cow white dials.

Yep, the only real difference between the 010D and the 114E is the closed caseback and the brushed CG lever (I believe the gen E series had a polished CG AND lever). I supplied the Palp crown (actually got it from Pam, but it's the same thing. They worked on getting the crowns made together, IIRC). The lume color is excellent, as babola was kind enough to point out to me, Panerai was still just using straight C3 during the D series, so no need for a relume. The intensity is good for the amount of lume there is, which is not much, so the dial doesn't glow like a sausage or sandwich dial, but neither does the gen.

Justaguy, that's a handsome watch, my friend! :D

OK................. (I think I've found my next watch......)

just one last question...

Whats the difference between a DSN crown and a Palp crown?

DSN crown -- 2mm thick (correct to gen); spring loaded (correct to gen); edges bevel cut too aggressively, giving the appearance that the crown is thinner than it actually is (incorrect to gen)

Palp crown -- 2.1mm thick (incorrect to gen, but obviously not by much); not spring loaded (incorrect to gen, but can't be seen when installed); edges bevel cut less aggressively, removing less metal from the edges of the crown, giving it a more correct visual appearance (not correct to gen per se, but visually the most accurate option available).

I think the teeth are a little more accurate in size and number on Palp's crown, too.

I hope that helps.
