PAM005 Platinum Plated Movement?

Have been e-mailing for about 2 weeks with a dealer (known to this forum) regarding my desire to purchase a PAM005 (apparently a difficult watch to buy at the moment). Anyway, about a week ago he advised that he could acquire one for me from the factory. I asked for some QC pics when available.

Today I received the following e-mail from him: "we got the 005 from the factory but when we QC the watch ,we found the watch is the old version ,the movement is not the platinum plated movement. so ,if you do not need it ,I will refund the payment to you, regards"

Hmmm.. does this mean that this particular PAM005 is not a PAM005 "K" version then? (I was not aware that "old" versions of the PAM005 were even available anymore).

Do the latest PAM005K versions come with a platinum plated movement standard?

My limited skill set does not include swapping movements and I'd prefer to buy a 005 without need for mods. That said, should I consider this watch without a platinum plated movement? Is this really important?

Of course I've e-mailed and asked the dealer many of these questions (less the buying advice, of course) and I am awaiting his reply. I also asked him to send QC pics of this particular watch anyway.

I'm hoping the good knowledgeable people here could shed some light on this because I'm a bit confused.

Thanks for any input and advice you can offer!

well you can't see the mvnt in an 005...but there have been a few complaints about the low beat mvnt they used in some of the recent pams. you know you will have to service the mvnt eventually. so when it craps out, just put a good one in. i don't know. do the pics look like the recent model? post some pics if you have them ;) let the pam troop have a look...

Anyway, I have one from that series (like many others) and its a stunning piece! I'd ask my dealer if I were you whether it is an H_Factory model or not (there's a new version not from them which does not seem to be so good) and if its from H, then buy with confidence.

BTW: the platinum plated movements are quite good-looking if put in an open-caseback PAM, the 005k has solid one. No real need. If you have any problems with it, simply buy a new one for 50-100$

Thanks for good info guys! I'm waiting on the QC pics from the dealer and answers to the questions I sent (including if this particular 005 is H Factory or not). Will post pics as soon as I receive them.

Well.. looks like I won't be getting a PAM 005 from this dealer after all. After over 2 weeks of e-mailing back and forth, I got word from him that he finally had the watch in hand (without a Platinum Plated Movement). He promised to send me QC pics "in one hour".

Two days passed with no QC pics and then he wrote to inform me that the watch in his possession is not for sale after all. He said he got this 005 from the factory but was actually a used watch (that belonged to another customer) that had been sent to the factory for repair. The watch was then sold to the dealer as new. This is the dealer's explanation to me.

I can't say I'm too surprised that this deal did not work out in the end . Most everyone, including me, knows the 005 has been sold out everywhere for a bit. But when I was told by the dealer it could be located, I guess I wanted to believe it.

Anyway, with any luck I'll pick up a mint 005 from a member here or maybe from a dealer if these are ever back in stock again. In the meantime, I've ordered a 312L from a different dealer (Angus) and should have QC pics soon.

Thanks for your input guys. Much appreciated!
