Does anybody know where to get a good PAM00172?

Does anybody here have a 172 that they can show pics of?

I just LOVE the blue hands... I just drooled again

Or maybe I can get a 111H modded with blue hands - that would be my dream watch!
Wonder how much that mod would cost...

Lots of dealers sell the 172 and you can get the blue hands from Davidsen as parts, if you want to.

The big problem is that the gen 172 in Tantalum (a titanium alloy) and the reps aren't even titanium anymore, they're brushed SS. :(

Also, the 111s never had the recessed sub-dial. If the look is all you're after, and you're OK with a fantasy watch, go with the 111 and blue hands.

This one is from King. The titanium case with ss bazel. But I change the crown and CG. I don't like the original crown and CG. For me it seems too far off from the gen. Hope this help.

This one is a recent purchase from Joshua. The titanium/stainless steel bracelet I found used on another forum.

Actually, titanium and tantalum are two different elements in their own right- see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tantalum
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanium

(I was surprised to find that tantalum is used for watch cases. I'm familiar with a few of its uses in electronics but wasn't aware of its corrosion resistance. Thought it was just a marketing gimmick.)

Wonder if anyone knows of any simple chemical tests- nondestructive- to tell SS from titanium from tantalum? PVD coatings are so good these days that I think it's possible to disguise SS as almost anything, but weight difference is a tell.... Think I'll ask our metallurgist guy out at work about this.

Huh, that's good to know. I didn't know that about tantalum/titanium, I always thought it was a Ti alloy. Cool!

The Tant watches have never been that popular. Really heavy and not all that attractive compared to other polished or brushed metals. But definitely high on the cool factor if you're into special edition Panerai watches.
