I'm awaiting a 188 that I purchased from a RWG member. How how do the crowns fair against getting wet/swimming? What mods are there (if any) to comfortably swim with these watches. Does the crown lever/guard seal up like a more traditional screw down crown?

Thanks.

I don't own any PAMS, but I would not get in the shower with a rep without having it tested first. Some seem to show good WR, some behave more like a coffee strainer. If you want to swim with it, have a good watchsmith see what can be done to tighten it up.

Sage advice: a rep is NEVER water tight until
You test it yourself.

Oh... and Pams don't float either. Just a little FYI at no additional charge.

I'll for sure get it pressure tested. I guess I'm used to my DSSD's and how well they have stood up to significant time in the water...with nothing more than greasing up the casebacks and crown.
The non screw down crown of the Pam just has me thinking a Pam...even the Submersable ones....aren't very water friendly.

+1 I would be very careful!
Make sure there are proper gaskets and some silicone grease perhaps.

If the CG is tight and the crown has a good o-ring... It's plenty water tight.
My 026k is fine for swimming... I reseated the crystal, greased the case back o-ring and added an additional o-ring to the stem... It takes force to close the CG now.

been swimming several times and not a leak.

Test and seal a rep... I don't trust out of the box watches to be water ready.

That's good to know about the crown.
My "new to me" 188 with the A7753 should arrive tomorrow...fingers crossed.
