Both River and Davidsen sell PAM springbars. These springbars look like the screwbar used in Panerai watches with the advantage that it is extremely easy to change straps. Also, if the threads in your PAM case are stripped, PAM springbars will allow you to still wear the watch.

I've purchased from both dealers. What I found is that the diameter of the "tube" portion of River's springbars is larger than Davidsen's When I use straps that are designed for tubes, I use River's springbars, and when I use straps not designed for tubes, I use Davidsens.

Here are some PICs to illustrate the difference between the springbars:

Interesting topic, wahwahweewah!

I always use tubes and the supplied springbar from Joshua.

How can you tell whether a strap needs a tube or not? I always squeeze the tubes inside, even if it is difficult at first. I mostly use BOB straps on my PAM111 in 24/24mm or 24/22mm.

Am I actually damaging some of my straps by using tubes?

And lastly, how much do those springbars cost?

Many thanks

I have no idea the specs on a SS bracelet. Just from memory the DSN pins are .79 ~ .81mm diameter, which is about the size of a threaded lug pin and tube combined.

From that concept, it would be unlikely that a bracelet's diameter would be made to accommodate a tube, and so the diameter of either Spring Pin is probably too big, based on theory alone.

i must have gotten confused . i thought davidsen's were too small and required tubes for straps. the spring bars i have from river are the same size as tubes making them unnecessary. with that said they are too big for an ss bracelet
