I know it could be a double post from the past, but as of September 2017, what are your recommendations in tackling this problem? The movement is A6497. I know for a fact that it's not overwinding the movement as the slipping happens earlier on, during the beginning of the wind. What's the recommended fix for this and if it is worth spending the money replacing or fixing it.

Also, in terms of the 6497 movement, which movement do you guys recommend me to use to replace this? What's a good brand and where can I get it for cheap?

Thanks.

On mine I thought the movement was shot too... got worse and worse Each week... turned out the smaller winding gear had only become loose. It's a reverse threaded screw. I would check that first.

Sorry guys I know it's an old post, I'd like to know the end of the story, I have the same issue, slipping wheel when winding, I guess I just have to work on one wheel, probably the little one, but I'm not so sure and dont' want to damage everything :)

I would say if there's issues, send it for a service and then you know you've got a nice serviced watch for peace of mind

Thank you, yes that'd be the best choice, but I'm trying to save a 250 euros service for a 250 euro watch! Any other suggestions?

Your watchmaker has much better prices than mine (250 euro and 450 for a chrono!)! I would do it for 80 pounds

service on a A6497/98 normally is between 85 and 100 euro, parts excluded with a full service

Ok guys so let's say I'm not able to find a service at a good price in my area, because I'd do it paying 100 euros! The point is, seen the above video, is it a work that can be done by a non professional like me? Probably it's just a screw on the little wheel (i could just do that). My impression, but I'm less than a beginner, is that the problem is in the little wheel.
The watch works and I can wind it, I just see that the wheels slip back a little.

Crown slipping might mean the winding gears need to be tightened (easy solution) or a problem with the main spring (not easy). It's a watchmaker's work. Check the trusted dealers section, there is at least one watchmaker based in EU.
