ok im here..:picard:

i've never been a fan of panerei or the jersyshore-types that (in my mind) wore them..

but i must admit after some weeks on these forums im becomming more and more intrigued.. (even if i am still a bit afraid that the next step is that i'll start wearing tanning-lotion, white track-pants and spikey hair..)

jokes aside there are some beautiful pams out there, but my all-time favourite is the 1950 (127 is it?) my only worry is the size.. 47mm is a BIG step up for someone who only recently accepted 42-44mm as not HUGE (i own a bunch of vintage watches and are used to around or under 40mm..)

so my questin in short is.. is there a model that looks like the 127 but smaller? (44mm) the 111 is beautiful aswell but as a vintage-lover i instantly fell in love with the domed crystal of the 127..

just a question from a pam-curious vintage bloke ;)

i alos like the look of the 0088i and just missed a deal on that.. maybe someone can advice me some other nice insteps-models for someone like me ;)
(vintage omega, JLC and since i discovered reps a couple of weeks ago rolex and blaincpain FF (next on my list unless a pam gets in my sights first) are my preferences.. classic and stylish in a sort of beat up way ;)

thankful for any suggestions..

WELL im off to the spraytanning-salon just have to find my wife-beater and white linnen-trousers first..

Hey buddy! Welcome to the club ;) You know the main problem with what you're saying is that I love all my Panerais, but don't know shit about jerseyhore and things you're saying. Its a very classy, yet military style and can be worn formal or extremely lose and sporty. IMO.

In term of vintage look, take a look at the 44mm PAM390, its a super rep as well and with a nice leather strap it makes a vintage but elegant PAM look. Apart from my 127, that is one of my favorite in the collection, so far :D

There are 44mm 1950 styled cases and watches, but they are mainly autos like the 312, 359, you should take a look at them as well. They are very nice replicas, only issue is that the open caseback and the movement is a dead giveaway from second 1.

And don't forget the submersible line, the PAM243 has the 1950 case in 44mm with a sub look, being again a current super rep;) Check it out!

Yeah mate, I thought PAMs were only for complete muppets.
Two weeks later I ended up caving in and ordered a 111 :picard:
It is not Panerai's fault someone named "the situation" decided to start wearing them when he isn't jacking off in the mirror or hitting women. I do feel they have a handsome timelessness to them even though their "history" can be debated. so yes I too am a PAM convert.

that being said, I recall a few people who have posted for sale some projects they have called "mini-fiddys" which essentially looked like a 44mm 127. I assume these are fantasy reps but who cares, I would wear one any day.

In regards to your Blancpain, rumour has it that noob factory is currently working on a release of one (per Angus, check the extra long JLC thread) for later this summer! so hold out for that beauty before you grab one of the older models.

I love Pams. No idea about Jersey Shore though! Massive +1 to Karesz

As an aside.... i almost bought a gen, but the reality is i have a problem (irrational i know) with ETA based movements and being charged a significant bucket load for design.... PAMs have their place - good design, practical etc but they were born with a rolex inside.

anyway ... i digress... there are a few mini fiddy out there as Ichi says. Go look, to be honest they dont seem THAT much different to a 44mm Luminor case. (to me at least!)

Jersey Shore! Seriously. When the starting price is $6000.00? Let's give you a pass for starting out by a) saying the absolutely wrongest thing and b) not knowing what you're talking about. While the lowest class of common culture will typically wear a watch they can't afford, whether it's a Rolex or a diamond-studded Breitling, Panerai continues to be a elegant gentleman's sports watch AND dress watch. Keep saying things like that about Panerai and Jason Stethem, Clive Owen and Heidi Klum will come over and kick your ass. Heidi can kick mine if she wants...

lol, sorry guys no offence ment here ;) just being a bit of a troll to get some attention in this subject whle explaining my previous standpoint (that i no longer have after joining these forums and seeing the diversity in pams).

some really helpful advice in this thread though so thanks for that ;)
i agree that the case-shape of the fiddy and luminor base is very similar but i think the attraction to the fiddy is a)domed crystal (with not so much focus ss "rim" around it like on the luminor) and b) the engraving on the rep ones is really a bit sexier than the one on the base luminor..

i will definitely keep my eyes open for mini-fiddys and check out the model-guide for all the suggested model-numers..

on a sidenote could one fit a more domed crystal in a base luminor case?

and on another side-note i actually worked with heidi for 2 glorious days about 5-6 years ago assisting a photograper doing a commersial for a certain fast-food resturant..

EDIT: found one of the pics ;)

yeah 2006 so 6 years then ;)

if you want to stay looking gen then 328/312 is what your after.

pretty good rep, there was a gen comparison over at rwg and it looked great I know there were 2 versions but the V1 pictured above was critized for it's xtal and no tension in the cg lever.

You could go homage, there'e some incredible builds.
http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/one-kind-sterile-stealth-dial-mini-fiddy-homage-300262.html

What I don't like about the above choices is the dimensions, the 328 is to tall, the contemporary cases Lumi's like the 111 is perfect. The homage looks fat (not phat) In the end I suggest you get a 127.

Im with ya here... Jersey shore and panerai are not related at all. Panerai should make you think of Arnold the governator, or Sylvester Stallon

Jersey shore would be hublow

Out of all my reps over the couple of years, Omega, Rolex, Tag, Hublot, etc,
Pams are the only ones that women have commented on saying they love the style and simplicity.

Most of the comments on my 390, I don't think I have ever worn it without getting a compliment, followed by my 288 which they say is unlike other watches and very cool.

Plus I love when a guy asks what it is and I say "a Panerai" and they usually say, "never seeing one" I usually say, "well now you have" and leave it at that lol

Hi anonymus
The more similar PAMS reps to PAM 127 are:
PAM 233 no First Class rep (average quality)
PAM 351 First Class rep
PAM 359 First Class rep
They all with domed crystal and automatics

And in retro style and manual but no strong domed crystal you have the PAM 390 awesome !!

Trolling the PAM forum can be tricky. Ask Jason Statham about the last guy... (any guesses on the model?)

wow thats only 40mm? a lot of precense still..
nice watch..

by the way what are your guys thoughts on the PAM156 ? i really like it but how close is it to gen, (not that I would know the difference but still) also thoughts in general is appriciated.. i said in my first post i like the 088 but i think actually prefer thisone (PAM156) since the dots instead of stripes makes it a tad less busy..

good rep-buy or no? (found a member-sale on another forum for 500usd woud that be a good buy in your oppinion) (http://www.rwg.cc/topic/147382-fs-pam156-fully-the-zigmeister-modded-located-eu/)

any experience and oppinions very appriciated ;) i know its not exactly a fiddy-lookalike like the thread states but i still like it a lot..

and if this size (44) fits i may just take you up on your advice and advance to the 127 straig away since i still love the look of it, and if i doubt i can pull anything bigger than 44mm off i will try to find a nice 390) good advice all thanks a lot!!

Please find below my comments about the PAM 156 gen and rep

PAM 156
The gen PAM 156 is a Limited Edition of 300 pieces released in 2002 E-series to commemorate the Laureus Regatta of that year.
The GMT PAM 156 has a similar structure as GMT PAM 088 but the dial is marked Regatta and has Dots markers instead of Sticks. See more info and more related watches in PAM 088.
The replicas are quite good but are very surpassed by the replicas of PAM 088.
If you are looking for a GMT with Black dial and silvered contrasted seconds @9 sub-dial and you don’t want specifically a Special Edition or Regatta, the best choice is an excellent replica of PAM 088.

I bought a 'Mini Fiddy' that is a shrunken regular and is exactly the size you want: 44mm. It isn't a 'rep' because there is no such thing, but I like it a lot--and don't care whether it is a fantasy model or not. If I recall, they are readily available from our trusted dealers, and come with the Asian 6497 movement. I liked it so much I eventually bought the regular Fiddy, and love it. I have 7.25" wrists.

Cheers for the advice, but i just prefer the dots over the sticks of 088.. also the one i settled for was superlumed by zigmeister (RGW.cc) had a T-48crown installed newly regulated/serviced movement and tested at 5atm.. also im sometimes impatient ;)

drawback on the deal is it came strap-less.. so tomorrow i will head down to the AD on friedrichstrasse and have a look at a gen rubber-strap and clasp.. couldnt find any reliable info on how much this will set me back and found a rep bracelet for 85usd from fellow member.. but also some reviews claiming gen strap feel to be far superior to the rep-rubber..

any thoughts on this? or should i even go for the gen-like black aligator-strap instead of the rubber? (although i think the rubber will look neat and probably last longer since i want this to be pool-worthy this summer..)

speaking of that.. ay idéas of where i can get it tested for waterresistance in berlin?

cheers all youve been very helpful!!

holy crap 4 weeks for the AD to source me a gen rubber bracelet.. looks like its not only in the rep-game you need to be as patient as yoda.. (i have one more store in west berlin that may have it still so it will be another excursion tomorrow). in the meantime if anyone is sitting on a rubber bracelet they want to part with let me know..
