PAM from Vac....need help deciding

Got bowled over by this beauty by Vac:

It comes with the following mods:

PVD case
Chieftang double AR sapphire
Swiss ETA 6497-1 hamilton movement
Swiss ETA H-3 flat top polished cannon pinion / hour wheel
Display caseback
Custom painted dial and relumed with tritec orange

I have already ordered this baby & it will be with me in about 6 weeks as the crystal is going to Chief for AR.

Now here is my dilemma.......

Should I go for the Unbranded one as above.....or should I change the dial to 111h? Here is the Pic of 111h dial that Vac has:

The undecorated swiss movement Vac intends to use (if I go for it)is:

I have spoken to Vac and here are the options that I have (all other mods will remain the same in both the watches):

A. go for the unbranded dial with swiss undecorated movement or

B go for the 111h dial with asian decorated movement.

Please help.......

I thought Vac only built/sold Unbranded models?

I know he'll lume/service whatever comes in...


Are these (branded reps) something new from Vac?

I wish the homages had more on the dial. not panerai of course but marina or luminor or something. im not as big on the blank dials, but im not the one spending the money....with that being said I DEF WOULD USE VAC AGAIN. He does awesome work.

I for one would go with the Branded movement/dial. But that's just me.

true, but the name is what i would guess makes it an homage and not a rep....but it sounds like that isnt as important

Right, either way ''Panerai" and 'Luminor Marina" are probably both trademarked by Panerai.


That being said, I have to imagine the CG has a patent on it... although I could be mistaken. So now I questions the entire logic behind a 'homage'.

Now that we've taken this a couple block off topic.........

Thanks guys. Am leaning in towards the branded dial + Asian decorated movement myself. This baby costs slightly upwards of $600.

Decent Hand-Wind Rep $400ish, relume $160... factor in shipping and you're doing good.


Is the PVD case a JF?

Am paying a bit more for Chief's Double AR. No idea on the PVD case....maybe I should ask Vac.

Now I gotta find myself a mean thick strap to go with this.
