The leather looks good, and if this is truly your "first" one, I would say it looks pretty decent. You should really look into saddle stitching though.

http://www.bowstock.co.uk/tutorials.html - this is a great resource for saddle stitching. Also finishing the edges.

If you want tips, I may be able to give some, but if you are just looking for an opinion on how well you did, then please read my first sentence :)

Pretty good job, bro. I like the sides unfinished. Gives it that rustic look.

This is my VERY FIRST STRAP! It turned out better than I expected. I found the bowstock tutorials after I did it....go figure!

I used a diamond style punch...which I noticed changes the look of the stitch.

...and yes...I would love some tips! Any suggestions you have...I am all ears...

Thanks

very nice for a first strap, stitching is quality and clean

Enzo, I have to admit your watches and straps are inspiring! I have been doing a lot of research on vintage straps....fit, feel, finish, stitching, and design. LOL, it's no Paci...but I had fun making it!

I'm not to sure how thick most of the original straps were...but this one comes out to 6mm or so. It is the softest strap I own.

Not thick enough for me! - Just kidding, it looks AWESOME. I love thick straps like this.

I didn't mean anything harmful by that comment. I was just wondering if it was his first one. I know in leather crafting that you make proto's and they get tossed or you improve till you have a finished product. I was saying "first" because if he had done some practicing or proto's before it, the strap should have looked better. But for a first effort it's pretty decent :)

Thanks everyone....I appreciate the help and suggestions that I've gotten on strap making. I am going to try saddlestitching my next strap. Maybe I'll smooth the edges out so it has that finished look.

Very nice looking strap!! I actually like the stitching. Not so "machined" looking :D

I like it! The stitching is different, different is good.

I like the uneven, raw sides for a vintage strap. If the manufacture looks too "polished" it loses some of the vintage look, IMO.
