So I ordered a Pam 587 from Toro last night, the $128 one that is on special. I know it has the wrong movement in it (incorrect as far as P.3000 movements go). I asked Toro if he could get me a new P.3000 movement with the more accurate decorations and he said he could for $85. My thought was to swap the movements, but after looking at the tear down of the 3000 on RWG, it seems the hands are different due to the recessed pinion to account for the face thickness.
I have not seen any 587's with the correct movement, and if there are some, I doubt they are in the $200 price range.
So so my question is, could I buy the new clone movement, take the dial off (may have to use dial dots) and make it all fit back in the 587 case.
I could wait till I get the watch in hand, take it apart and see if ordering the movement would work, but I figure the Pam gurus on here will be able to guide me in the right direction.
Also I have read that the case is not accurate on the 587, can some one fill me in on what is off, and is it fixable.
I will build a thread if the movement swap is possible.
Thank you for all the help! This forum is a great resource.
