PAM 512 movement falls apart

My wife's PAM 512 rep stopped working today. A closer look revealed there were several deco screws flying around in the case and this piece was entangled between the balance wheel and hairspring:

Does this serve any purpose other than decoration? Here's where it usually sits:

I wonder if it did any damage to the hairspring since the movement now shows considerable beat error and low aplitude even if fully wound. Any pointers on how to fix this?

Here's a photo of the watch with a lume color matched strap:

That piece is purely decorative to replicate the fine tuning lever for the P999 movement. As for damage, due to the change in beat rate and lower amplitude, I'd warrant a guess that the hairspring has a minor crimp where the piece made contact, thus throwing the spacing of the coil off and limiting the amount of rotation it can make around the balance. I'm frankly surprised it's maintaining any sustained movement at all after that was wedged in there, so it wasn't damaged too much at least. A good smith may be able to reset the coil and get it back into proper shape for you.

Attack of the deco plate. Enough of these. Let's replicate the movement 1:1.
